Wasn’t sure what my login for Sony Image Station was, did finally remember it and I’m glad I did 'cuz… WOW! Some great shots. Been waiting for someone to post some photos of the B-24 in the new scheme. She looks grand…
Thanks!

Great pics… as always though, there’s never enough, are there? You’re lucky to have got that intimate with a flying B-24. I must go back to Duxford and have a look at theirs [:D]
Would have loved to see the pics, but didn’t love having to sign up for imagestation in order to do so. Any chance you could post the pics here ?
Regards, Rick
Rick, I only have 10MB of personal space on my Earthlink account, so I’d have to shrink the pics to 800x600 but I could probably do that. Let me experiment this evening.
I can put them on a web page if you like…
Fade to Black…
What were the names of the aircraft? If they were the from the Collings Foundation, I got to go up in the B-17a few years ago, then named 909 (think they may have repainted/renamed her). It was great. Bought my wife’s grandfather, who was a B-17 ball turret gunner, shot down, and a POW for 9 mos in WWII, a flight for his 75th birthday. When we get to the flightline, my wife produces a second ticket for me for an early birthday present. It was awesome. Went out and spun up the props to prime the engines, took off and the flight lasted about 45 minutes over the coast of FLA. Greatest part was watching the reactions of her grandfather and seeing what he remembered as we flew. There were a couple other B-17 crew vets on board as well. We had a great discussion afterwards too. I will always cherish that day I had with her grandfather and the other vets up there, especially since he is now gone, like so many of our great WWII vets.
The -17 was 909, they haven’t repainted her in years. I got to go up last year, thanks for my loving wife. [:D]
The -24 was “Witchcraft”, previously “The Dragon and His Tail.” They repainted her for this tour season. I missed her last year at this shindig, due to mechanical problems (theirs, not mine).
Why do they repaint planes to display art that wasnt on the plane? seems kinda odd to me
HeavyArty That was a great thing for you to do!! I’m sure you will cherish it as it was a “Special moment in Time” a glimpse into the past
