Good morning everyone! I always love to start my day off at work by checking to see what’s new on teh forum. Shhhhh. Ha-ha-ha!
I’m hoping this is a simple question. Can anyone tell me what the FS color for the grey B-1 bomber is? I don’t want to do the camoflage job on it. I just want to do the over all somewhat-darker grey scheme since I think it looks a bit more sinister. Also, would it by any chance come in the Testors rattle can? I’ve got an airbrush but I was thinking the 1/48 scale B-1 might just be a bit big for it. I don’t know. I’m still debating as to how I should paint this beast!
Thank you for the help,
Eric
Perfect! Thank you Eagle.

which version? SAC’s or ACC’s ? the SAC version is FS 36081, FS 34096, FS 36118(lower gray color) and ACC’s is FS 36118
Echo, I just checked Testors web site & Gunship Grey does indeed come in a 3 oz spray can.

Yup I’ve had the spray can myself. Painted a hornet that color… stupid me!!!
Rad, how are you coming along with yours?

72cuda, Yikes! I didn’t realize they came in such a variety of colors! It’s like picking out a new car. I don’t know if this will help or not but it’s a plane out of Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota. Does that help any? I don’t think it’s a SAC bird but please correct me if I’m wrong. About 90% of my builds are WW2 U.S. planes. The remaining 5% are Korean era U.S. prop and jet planes. I think my most modern bomber I have in my collection is the B-36 I just finished. LOL!
Thanks to all again!!!
Eric
Ellsworth has flown the B-1B for quite some time now, from when SAC was still around up to today so their B-1Bs wore both the SAC three-tone scheme 72cuda mentioned and the ACC overall gray. B-1Bs started wearing the gunship gray overall in the early to mid 1990s. So it really depends on which era of the Bone you want to model.
