Here are a few pics showing the 1/72 Azur Dewoitine D371 fighter in progress. One of their earlier kits, it suffers a little from excessive flash and some parts are best replaced altogether. The struts in particular! However, it’s not that an easy thing to do because of the very complicated design of the real thing! And there are still 2 struts missing on those pics!

Wow, those struts look like a nightmare to get lined up. Does that kit come with some sort of jig, or are those “free-hand?”

Thanks Guys…! No, no jig at all in this kit. The alignment is not perferct, but it’s quite close, close enough for me! The 2 missing struts will be added tonight. I had doubts about their existence since the Azur drawings sometimes show them, sometimes not and finding info on this plane has been real difficult. I eventually got one pic that confirms they’re there!

Hi Kark, nice to see you again! Yes, I’m gonna do the basic French scheme of the time. I toyed with the idea of doing the 372 in Spanish gear, but I have a number of other kits of French aircraft of the same period and they’ll look good together, someday!

It’s a shame there aren’t more models of French interwar fighters, particularly in 1/48, as subjects such as the Nieuport - Delage sequiplanes, and my pesonal, favourite the the Dewoitine D510 are so attractive. I’ve had my eye on the FM 510 for a while now, maybe one day.

1/48 has never really done much to me, Karl… I’ve been buying a lot of the Azur kits lately, and re-assembling the older Heller ‘Série Musée’ kits too. That could keep me busy for a long time! I have the Heller Dewoitine 510 a the very top of my next projects. But not far behind is the weird looking Azur Bréguet 27. And I also bought, on sale from Hannants, the 1/32 D520…

DJ I look forward to your D510, I’ve often comptemplated the Azur kit.
I’ve just finished Hobbycraft’s 1/48 MS406 for the North African GB, a feat which took me 5 months due to the inacuracy of the kit itself and my own ineptitude. Really wish I’d picked up the Azur MS406 in 1/72!
I certainly find 1/72 faster to build, but for fighters I prefer 1/48, still got Revell’s 1/72 Greif in the stash for next year.
