Aztek and AlClad (do they mix?)

Hi everyone!

I’ve got a P-51 that I’ve prepped with Krylon in anticipation of finishing it with AlClad. However, I was wondering if the AlClad will have any detrimental effect on the plastic nozzles used by Aztek. Will mineral spirits work for the post-painting clean up?

Thanks for your help!

Eric

Alclad2 is a lacquer. The AB should be cleaned with lacquer thinner. I have no experience with the Aztek AB’s but if the nozzles can’t tolerate lacquer it could be a problem.

Regards, Rick

I wasn’t sure if the lacquer would melt the plastic. Does anyone out there know? I know a lot of people use AlClad. Can someone shed some light on this please?

Eric

I’ve used Alclad on 2 models with an Axtek 470 with no problems. Just make sure you clean out the AB properly immediately afterwards. I’ve heard some people claim laquer causes problems with the seals inside. But like I’ve said, I had no problem so far, but thought I’ll mention it.

Waikong, thank you for the info! I’ll have to run out and get some lacquer thinner then.

Best wishes!

Eric
