Here’s the latest addition to my airliner fleet: AZ Models 1/144 scale DC-9. Decent kit. Look for the full review in the January 2011 issue of FSM.

Decals or windows? -30 or -40? If it is a -30 without windows, it’d be perfect to do a C-9A/B

Gerald: It’s a Series 30 and the windows and windshield are decals.

TD4438: AZ Models is by Legato out of the Czech Republic. Their kits are available in the US from UMM-USA.

Good looking model and you don’t see JAT alot. They flew Caravelles too. I flew in a JAT DC-9 from Dubrovnic to Belgrade in the Fall of 1988. Like going from heaven to hell. I have some pictures somewhere but they’re slides.

I’ve got the inflight contents from the seat back pocket in a bag somewhere.

Nice job, Aaron !! I flew as as Flight Instructor Medical Technician on C-9A’s. The C-9A was a -32F (“F” meaning freight door). In answer to the window question, only SOME of the windows on the forward section were painted over where the door and ramp were located on the port side of the aircraft, and where the Medical Crew Director (MCD) station was on the starboard side of the aircraft, and faced aft. The Charge Medical Tech (CMT) sat on the aft door seat and faced forward. The 2nd Medical Tech (2MT) sat on the port side of the aircraft just aft of the litter ramp and door (but just forward of the port wing root), and faced aft. The 3rd Medical Tech (3MT) sat on the starboard side of the aircraft just outboard of the last litter station (just over the wing) and faced forward. All the 24 ambulatory patient seats faced aft. Just seeing your model makes me wish I was still flying. Ahhhhh, those were the days !!!

Very well done. Nice to know someone else is making a DC-9 in the -30 length … anything has to be better than that ancient Airfix kit I have done battle with once, and will someday do battle with again!

I just saw this post. Very nice job!

I want to build this one also but of the C-9C like we have at Scott AFB now and build one of the C-9As we used to have.
