Hi there guys! after a nice vacations away from everything (models included) I have just finished to glue the last pieces on my Lancaster The model is finished in a Fuerza Aerea Argentina sheme.
After WWII the argentine aviation benefitd from the neutral stance it had mantained throughout most of the conflict, in one hand there was a great inmigration of German scientist, technicians and pilots (like Kurt Tank, Horten, Dewoitine -from France- Otto Behrens, etc) wich lead the aviation here in Argentina to a golden era (it was designed the Pulqui I and II wich helped Argentina to bacame the 8th country in the world to design a jet plane, but sadly none of this plane enter to production, even if the Pulqui II had a great potential for the time) On the other there was a great debt that Great Britain owed to Argentina from the war: Great Britain was unable to pay for food and raw material with currency, so had offered manufactured products in lieu. This way the Fuerza Aerea recived 100 Gloster Meteor Mk IV, 30 Avro Lincoln and 15 Lancaster
The Lancaster arrive to our country between 1948 and 1949, based at the Grupo 2 de Bombardeo of III Brigada Aerea. The Lancaster saw little use here, mostly because it was exceed by the most powerful Lincolns. The type was used till the 60´s.
The revell new tooling kit is top notch, it´s a far better choice (for me) than the overpriced Hasegawa kit. The weeker parts of the kit are the machine guns (just plastic sticks with no detail) and the wheels I used two PE sets from White Ensing and resin machine gun barrels and wheels that a Friend from England got for me (thanks Mick!!) The PE set were not designed for this kit so many parts were not used. This lead me to a fatal accident: I wanted to use the PE parts for the rear turret interior because it is a highly visible area, but the kit´s clear part wasn´t a good start to add this pieces, trying to adapt the clar part to recive the PE bits I broke and ruined it, so I´m searching for a replacement (Any of you guys have a spare rear turret??? LOL).
I also use Aerocalcas decal set. The model was painted dark earth and dark green for the upper surfaces and black from the underside. I also did a little prashading (not very sisible on the pictures) and washes for the panel lines. The gray wash on the black painted aiframe isn´t realist but I like the way it look so I decide to leave it that way
