authentic decals

I recently got some decals from hannants which were from a company called authentic decals for a mig 29. The thing is all of the decals broke up on me I mean every single one to the smallest decal I diddnt do anything differently from normal and I have never had this problem to this extent before, would anybody know whats happend? Was I just unlucky or authentic decals not very good?

The sheet may have been old or too dry. Was there any yellowing or silvering of the decals or the sheet? If I have a questionable set of decals I always use some Micro Scale liquid Decal Film. It can usually save decals which would otherwise have broken up.

+1 on Sparrowhyperion’s suggestion. I also try to scan all of my decal sheets before I start with them so in case I mess one up, I can reprint it and salvage the build.

I haven’t used the Microscale film, but have used the spray can version from Testors with satisfactory results. You just have to remember that you have to trim aound the decal because after using the decal film, the whole sheet will basically be turned into one big decal.

IIRC, I’ve also heard of people airbrushing a coat of Future over decal sheets to do the same thing as the decal films.

I had that bad experience with old decals.
