This was the Tamiya Mk VInf kit [Black Plastic moulded], it has the AeroMaster decals applied to it and my resin bits are also fitted to this model subject. A brief history on this aircraft, Ex Bristol Mk XIc NE 360 delivered in the Coastal Comand scheme of Ocean Grey over Sky on 21/4/'44, the Ocean Grey was removed and the cammo scheme of Foliage Green and RAF Dark Earth, reserialed A19-190 and allocated to 30 Sqn RAAF on 24/7/'44 and coded LY-A named Margron III, it was destroyed in a Japanese raid on Morotai on the night 24/11/'44.
She’s a beauty (pardon the pun) Rob! Really nice flat finish and great color for the panel lines: what did you use there? I’m surprised she doesn’t have the typical Aussie (Sperry I believe?) nose. What’s the story on that? Didn’t all Aussie Beaus have one? The Beau’s my favorite twin engined prop plane ever, so thanks for sharing.[8D] I have one nearly finished in D-day stripes. When I rent a digital camera (on the 19th), I’ll take some pics and try to upload them somewhere. She’s not as good as yours mind you.[;)]
Filbert,
A lot of Aussie Beaufighters did have the Sperry auto pilot - but not all. Some had the gun camera nose, and others had the normal nose - just depends on the variant and what may have been retro-fitted in the field.
And Lobbie - this is the first time I’ve seen my opened cowl flaps and hedgehog exhausts on a model - they look great!.
Falco039, I’ve seen one of Lobbie’s Tamiya Beaufighter kits before assembly - they’re really very nice kits - get one and you won’t be disappointed!
