I am wondering how many fellow modelers who are also pilots have built models of your particular aircraft. I earned my private pilot certificate about three months ago, and I am working on a 1/48 version of the Cessna 152 in which I first soloed and then took my chickride. I would love to hear from any fellow pilot/modelers who have replicated their aircraft!

I also built a model of the C-152, but I just used the kit scheme, which did not match any of the planes I happened to have flown. At the time I just did not have the patience to do all that masking it would have taken .
When Airshow Models brings out their 1/32nd Pitts S-1S, I am going to build one and do it up in a “what if” scheme.

I learned to fly in a Piper Tomahawk - PA-38-112, an awful airplane and the last thing I would want is a model of that little beast 
The “Trauma-hawk”? You poor thing! I learned to fly in a PA 28-161 Warrior. They sure are great planes to start out in. Haven’t tried building a model of one yet. I am thinking about doing a model of one of my customers aircraft. I’m also an A&P working at an FBO[:)].

As a pilot for over ten years and over 1,000 hours of flight time, I have yet to build a model of anything I have piloted. I find it more fun to build acft that I worked on, or was a Crew Chief on in the Air Force. A F-4D with six Mk-82HD. Two Aim-7 missiles, center line SUU-23 gun pod, ALQ-87 ECM pod, and two 370 Gal. drop tanks. Ser # 66-8711 with three MIG kills. The power of destruction.
I’m currently flying a B-717 which has not been kitted yet as far as I know. I also flew the DC-9-10 and -30 for about seven years and I do have a couple kits of that airplane around. I am a WWII nut though and I just can’t get excited about building civilian stuff. Maybe someday!

I´m putting together a C150 that my younger brother solo’ed in. Thought it would be a nice thing to do.
I’ve done one EA-6B Prowler (600+ hours and counting) with several more in the stash. Also have a T-34C in the stash.
Wouldn’t mind adding a T-1 (Air Force version of Beech 400), T-39 and a T-2C to the collection. Not sure if I’ll ever find a T-39 though…
I’m currently working(still) on a 1\48 CT-114 tutor that I flew in the CAF. I amounced about 75 hrs. and still wish it wasn’t retired.
I started out on gliders, then flew muskateers for a brief time as a predacessor to the tutor. I still will fly anything that has the keys left lying arround.
Building WWII to modern keeps me going with the notion of flight and the memories of the times I had(sniff).
