Hi. I have been trying to find the equivalent of “Future Floor Polish” here in the Philippines without success.
I live in the Parañaque area and looked at specialty hardware stores like Ace Hardware, but they don’t seem to that brand nor anything similar.
A point to the right direction will be heartfeltly aprpeciated. [:)]
BTW, has anyone able to acquire the Italeri 1/35 M1A2 Abrams? Been looking for that for several months already also without success.

Hey! Another Filipino modeler! There are quite a few of us here now! [:D] I see that this is your 2nd post, so let me say: Welcome to the forums!
I’ve tried to find Future floor finish myself at the local supermarkets and they don’t carry it. Swanny’s website says that here SC Johnson has renamed it to “Johnson’s Wipe and Shine”. I don’t think I’ve ever come across this though (partly because i keep forgeting what it’s called when i go to unimart or shopwisde!). If you can find this, let me know! [:)]
I can’t help you with your Italeri tank problem because i build mainly aircraft. Dwight Ta-ala can probably help you with that one since he builds tanks.
Maybe you can help me out with something… have you ever found Testot’s Dullcote or some similar matt spraycan in any of the hobby shops/hardware shops? I’m real keen on getting my hands on this stuff!

I really don’t recall if there is a flat clear spraycan available here - I’ve turned away from using them since they’re too expensive.
I assume you have an airbrush; try using Tamiya’s gloss clear mixed with their flat base - I use Tamiya Acrylics and that mixture does provide a protective overcoat - real good for tanks and aircraft.
I also build planes, too…but I’m holding that off unitl I find that Future thing to achive glossy canopies and cheaper protective coats for weathering.
Johnson’s Wipe and Shine…hmm, will look around for that. Thanks for the heads up. [:)]

Sadly i don’t have an airbrush yet… Huhuhu…[:(] (But i plan to rectify this very soon! I saw a Badger Crescendo 175 at, of all places, National Bookstore! [:0]) This is why i can’t use the bottled flat base… it leaves brush streaks!!! Such a pain! [:(!]

If you do happen to see either the Johnson’s Wipe and Shine, or Testors Dullcote or equivalent, please drop me a note!! I’ll do the same if i come across the floor wax. (though i have fears this stuff will be tinted red!) [;)]
Don’t have an airbrush yet? I just bought my first one a few months ago. Tamiya Spray Work…I already completed one 1/35 M1 tank (and currently working on another), and it really seems to be okay.
I can recommend it, although since it was first - and only -airbrush (after 20-odd years of handbrushing) I really can’t provide a comparison with other airbrushes.
Maintenance and cleaning is very easy and quick (since I use only Acrylics), te only thing I dislike about it is it is tricky to adjust the amount of paint since its a single action (or a hybrid) type.
The compressor can get deafening but its primarily due to how I arrange my gear (the thing is less than 2 feet away from my right ear).
Spent a little over P5,000 Php for it as well as a power supply; bought it at Lil’s.
You may want to consider that as a starter; then eventually move on and upgrade to their HG-types, (prices are similar to airbrushes you saw in National…Badger, whatever). At least it’s compatible with the compressor.

I’m also Filipino but I live in Texas now. I think they carry Future Floor Polish at Lil’s Hobby Shop in SM Megamall (ground level). That was almost two years ago now, tho so I’m not sure if they still have it. They also have a branch at Gorietta which, I believe, is bigger. Man, I miss that shop. I used to go there every week to check out new models. I bought my very first one there, my airbrush and almost all my Tamiya Enamels I still use now! That’s one of the things i miss most in shops there. Next to cheaper Tamiya and Academy models, that is!
PS. Does anybody know why Tamiya America doesn't release Tamiya Enamels here?BlackThor: i suppose if you’re doing mostly armor, the sprayworks set would be fine. However, i tend to work in 1/72 and it would be nice for me to have some fine control (hence the desire for the badger crescendo). I know someone here that uses those Tamiya HG Airbrishes (they’re supposed to get the job done real nice), so you can upgrade brushes hassle free.
Yep, that’s a completely handpainted B-17. I wasn’t so happy with it at first, but since showing it here on the forums, i’ve gained a whole new respect for it! [:p] Thanks or the compliment! Maybe i can return the favor if you post a pic of your M1A1! [:D]

No one sells Tamiya enamel in the 'states? That’s odd, you’d think that would be the first place to sell them… then again, Tamiya IS based in Japan, so it may be one of those odd cases where the Philippines sees more merchendise than the US… [:p]
Not all the Tamiya airbrushes can connect to the sprayworks set, check the description for the brushes on Hobby Link Japan.
Tamiya Airbrushes are bassically repackaged Olympus(Iwata) Airbrushes, except for the plastic one.
Tamiya Enamles, IMHO, aren’t worth the money. Bottles are small and a pain to handle too. I only get the few colours that are not available in their acrylic range.
I think the reason for no enamels being available in the states is due imports limitations and extra paperwork needed as they are classed flammable & hazardous, atleast if I remember a talk correctly I had with people over here.
Yep. At Lil’s. Again, I’m not sure if they still do because I just saw ONE bottle in their glass case over 2 years ago.
Yeah, it’s very odd. They only have the Tamiya Acrylics here (and the lacquer spraycans). Well if they do sell the Enamel paints, I haven’t heard of anyone that uses them or of any shop that sell them.
Just a trivia. Do you know that there is a Tamiya factory somewhere in Laguna? Next time you buy a Tamiya kit, check where it is made. =)
I have five bottles of Future. However, we use it for group build ups during our club meetings. Just come over and you can join us. We meet only once a month in Quezon City.

Future can be OCCASIONALLY found at Cash and Carry and at Pure Gold in Clark, but I was there a few weeks ago and out of stock sa Clark. There has been an IPMS Philippines since the late 60’s too; try checking out the website:
There is a group meeting held every 2nd sunday of the month (this coming sunday) at UP Diliman Fine Arts building. Go check out the website for more details. The Tamiya factory is in Cebu ( lots of reason why it was set up there, but a pressing reason was the geology, yes, the geology-to support the weight of the molds and presses). Academy used to have a factory in EPZA Cavite but alam ko it downgraded a few tears ago.

Congratulations to your newly formed IPMS Philippines. I was an inactive member of the IPMS USA and I submitted entries for the National Convention in Chicago about 2 years ago. I have been an active member of the Military Miniature Society of Illinois for 12 years. Unfortuantely I don’t have a cam, so I can’t post a pic of my M1s.
I’m not just focusing on armor, I also biuld jets and helos as well. Incidentally, my next project is Academy’s A-10 and I intend to paint this in Lizard camo using the SprayWork - based on my experice, I beleive it can be handled.
I bought a bottle of “Wipe and Shine” ( I think) as recommeded by other modelers as an alternative to Future . I dipped a canopy of a junked X-29…anybody know how can I remove it?
I think the Tamiya factory is in Cebu and Academy’s Factory is in Cavite.

You got the wipe and shine?!? is it clear like future or slightly reddish, like most floorwax here? What do you mean by “remove it”? it didn’t work and you want to strip it off? [:)]
Yeah, got Wipe And Shine…bought a bottle in SM Bicutan; goes for around P50+.
Dipping the canopy into the solution had exemplary results; now I just want to know how to strip the wax off - just for experimentation purposes.
As I intend to use this as a protective coat prior and after decaling (can’t want to use this on model cars, too), I would think that the best way to apply it is via airbrush. Now I’m curious on what to use to clean the airbrush after spraying.
Wipe And Shine comes in two colors:
“Natural” - clear (though looks milky white when you peer into the opened bottle;
“Red” - Translucent.
Hmmm…you don’t sleep, do you? [:)] BTW, regarding that B-17 of yours: What paints (and colors) did you use for the upper and lower surfaces? I have Academy’s B-17F ‘Memphis Belle’ as well as a P-47 and I intend to use that paint scheme.
Ammonia can be used to remove Future (available in the form of window/glass cleaners available at grocery stores). Maybe you can try it with that product too. =)
