Attention all Crewmen!....I need help again.

To any who may have the LATEST release of the 1/24 Huey kit:

Do your chin windows fit good…like …do they fill up into the corners and all that???

I have collected THREE kits for my project,
One built, one Swiss version ‘in white plastic’ and one NEW in box 'Tour of duty version (ebay)…and all of them have crapy chin windows…If the new kits were better I could get my hands on the clear parts OR I may just have to make my own using that squadron canopy plastic.

Thanks again!

PE,

My kit is one of the “Rambo” series, and after a test fit, I see the chin bubbles leave a gap in the upper corner (beside the door) and slightly in the upper/front corner. Hmmmm… seems a Vacuform job is in order here?

Whenever I get around to doing mine, I’m going to convert it into a “C” Model “Hog” from the 1/9th, with the 19 round FFAR tubes painted as Budweiser Beer Cans! Thanks for bringing this to my attention, as I can make new ones before it’s TOO built up!

I will insert the kit chin bubbles into the spaces using silly putty on the inside rim, then fill in the gaps with “Spackling” (drys quick), sand smooth with #1 steel wool, then #00 steel wool, then #0000 steel wool, then clean up all residue. Position the fuselage on your working surface so the chin bubble section is the highest point, get a clear sheet of styrene, sit a candle in front of your work, hold the clear styrene about 6" over the candle until the center starts drooping, then lay it over the fuselage chin bubble section.

If the styrene gets too hot, the bubble will be too thin… not hot enough, and the sides won’t be completely in position. (now is where cleaning and smoothing the area pays off!)

Remove the kit supplied chin bubble, clean away the spackling residue, position the uncut vacuform over the chin bubble space, mark it, then cur it out.

Walla… new, perfectly fitted chin bubbles! [;)]

Thats why I ask…Thanks Hooker![:D]

My wife is still wondering how I can get scale Model advice from a hooker[:p]

Hehehe… tell her that ANY hooker who has revived an Aurora Chinook (with all its modifications), warrents being listened to! hehehe
[:D]

There goes my story about Gloria who is a working girl and builds Helo models…he he.

The pics and plans I have on the ( folding Troop bench ) in the B and C Hueys… do not show how the bar that the upper bench material is ‘snapped’ to is held in place.

…any ideas?

Thanks again!
