So I’m working of the DML Premium Elefant, but I’ve been stuck for going on 3 weeks now on attaching the PE Fenders. Just the right side, I’ve not even removed the left side from the fret. The fact that I’ve never used PE to this extent before isn’t helping matters.
I’ve tried super glue and a brace to hold them in place, they didn’t bite. I’ve used super glue and accelerator. That held a little longer, until I went to stick attach the next section. There just doesn’t seem to be enough surface area on the edge of the PE for glue to hold.
I was hoping that a stroke of genius would hit me the longer I stewed on it, but I’m getting antsy. I know for a fact that I must be missing something in this task, so I’d appreciate a helpful hand, or ten…
Try heating the PE fenders over a flame, let them cool and CA away. this will do the trick.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll try this, othterwise I had a brain flash to use pieces of the fret itself attached along the edge of the body of the vehicle to give the fender several little lips to sit on. then try disguising them away with putty.
hey glamdring, i just put this kit together not too long ago. actually, i’m still in the final stages of the weathering. she’s a beaut isn’t she? i loved this kit and thought it was a blast to build. this was my first major PE kit also, and the thing is, this is not AM PE, its kit supplied!! but anyway, i had the same problem with the fenders as you do. here’s what i did. after you bend them to the proper shape and angle, make sure you test it against the hull. make sure they are the right angle and fit properly. when both of them fit like they should, i laid them upside down on the table so that they were flush, end to end. i placed a small piece of tape on the back side and kept turning them over to make sure they were aligned with each other. you can’t see the tape from the top view, and once i had it taped together, i then places small dabs of CA to the underside of it, allowing the CA capillary action to seep between the joints and soak up in the tape. this makes the tape hard also. voila. just like gluing a piece of scrap to the underside. but a word of advice, make sure you watch your hands when painting this beast. i’m not sure how many times i have knocked the fenders off while trying to hold and turn it while painting. i’m so used to the fenders being plastic and glued strong. after reading you post again, i’m not sure if your talking about gluing the two halves together, or the completed piece to the hull. if your talking about how to glue it to the hull, try glueing a thin strip of plastic sheet to the underside of the hull, with only about 2mm hanging out. this will give you something for your fenders to “bite” onto and you won’t be able to see it.
