Atlantis USS MISSOURI BB-63

Never built a Atlantis kit before, going to be a new experience. The scale is 1:655, not sure what scale that it is. I usually don’t build to many ships.

Following Along ! Never heard of this brand.

I am sure it will become a masterpiece. With a little patience and a keen eye to detail you will certainly achieve something special. I am not into ships either, although my next project will include not one, but four 1/35 scale landing crafts coming ashore on Omaha Beach on the second wave and I still have to study their real counterparts to do so.

Exciting!
I too am eager to see how it goes.

I believe Atlantis re-issues older kits, and the odd scales were done to make the model ship a set length - in this case 16 inches. I enjoy these types of kits, I hope you enjoy the build and can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Following along too. I’m not a ship builder, but I have the Tamiya “Mighty Mo” in my stash. I will enjoy watching your progress.

Yep watching this one ! hmmm ships

Interesting way to go about scaling a ship.

It’s called Box Scale… The kit is designed to fit in the box… The actual scale is calculated later…

Many of the early 50’s-60’s kits were manufactured this way… Especially Revell, Lindberg and several others… Most of the Atlantis line consist of these older “classic” kits re-popped for today modelers who like the older classic kits…

Very interesting information. I have built a few Lindberg ship kit, it seems like they are the only ones making old time ships.

Never knew that. Thank you for clarifying that. :+1:
