I have only just recieved my first set of resin ATAC - Zimmerit.
I get a little bit confused by the instructions so I would like to ask for directions.
The instructions say that you should 1.) put the sheet face down on 400 grit paper and sand the back with 360 grit 2.) cut the parts clear of the carrier film.
Perth Modeling say that you should follow the instructions to remove the panels from the thin backing film.
Carrier film - Backing film? Isn’t that just flash resin?

Yeah the first time I used resin zimm that part confused me too. There is NO backing as I define it just the flash. I find that as I sand the backside the edges get thin enough that having to cut the pieces out is not necessary they just about fall out on their own.
Be gentle when sanding because you can buckle or tear the zimm because it’s so thin.

Personally I don’t sand the back of the sheet myself, I’ve never seen the need for it with the glues/adhesives I use. As Tony mentions, the sheet doesn’t have any kind of backing to it…it’s just cast as a single sheet and the panels are thicker vs. the rest of the sheet. That “rest of the sheet” is very thin so it doesn’t take much to remove it, just be careful as the panels themselves can be delicate depending on their design/shape.
