So it’s been about 15 years since I’ve built in plastic and while sorting the basement I found a half finished kit my sister gave me back in 1999-2000. I’ve picked up a few kits here and there and a few more this year at a hobby show and have been putting off building them.
This half finished AT-ST walker seems like the perfect way to get back in the swing of things.
Upon opening the box I found no instructions and a bunch of missing parts so I’ve decided to make this one battle hardened and left derelict. The plan is to mount it on a base, add rust, moss, vines, etc…
I’ll post more pictures as I get more done.

UPDATE: Note, don’t try and post and post images from your phone, doesn’t work so well. On a PC, much better.
Some additional info, bit’s of scrap styrene, some solder for hoses/lines on the missing gun and some old LED’s from my electronics parts bin, sanded flat on one side and glued on the back for antenna equipment.
I used a no.11 knife and a pin vise with a small bit to make the blaster damage. A little more to do on the ‘cab’ around the missing gun and it’ll be ready for some more paint.
You can use the “Preview” feature to see if your images show up before you post. You can also play around in the testing forum. Search the technical assistance forum for how to post images.
It may be a problem with Dropbox. I can’t seem to get the images inserted from Dropbox, I’m not sure why.

I’m still not seeing the pics. If you can see them, it may be because you are signed in at Dropbox. They aren’t showing up for me, whether I’m signed in or not. Am I the only one who can’t see them?
Here is an update on my AT-ST build. I’ve dug out the airbrush sets and really gave it a go, relearning how to use my single action and teaching myself how to use a double action. I’m pretty pleased with the result, considering it’s my first time weathering with an airbrush and the first pass of it. There are a few spots where I got some ‘sputter’ and blotches due to not having the paint thinned and pressure set properly. Constant learning process. Plenty more touch ups and detail to go.
Next up after the weathering, mounting to a base, re-attching the blast visors that I accidentally knocked off and to begin covering in overgrowth.

Well despite some delays and setbacks and frustration over how I was going to do this I’ve finally gotten around to finishing this off.
The base, wood blocks, dowels and foam ball are all dollar store finds. Sawdust is from my chopsaw catch bag and the rest is regular carpenters glue.
I had a little help from my little monkey, her first work on any model and she loved it. I think I have her hooked early
Just have to wait for it to cure and dry and then sealing and painting, etc, etc…

HAHA!! What a little cutie! She looks a lot like my niece. I’m glad to see that she’s so happy to make something with her own hands, and not playing a video game. I love the base, it looks like what it represents - the desert. The shape, and colour and other acoutriments make this very cool! It’s just too bad that this isn’t bigger/taller.
I put a bit of a base coat down in earth tones. mixtures of brown, brown/black, green/black, green/brown randomly about the base and some lighter greens on the top of the sawdust&glue on top of things for foliage/mosses. I also added in an initial black wash for all the nooks and crannies to try and give a bit of depth and shaddow.
I made the paint very wet, not quite a wash but close and the sawdust soaks it right up nicely. My first time using sawdust and on a whim and I quite like it.
All the ground paint is dollar store craft acrylic paint thinned with water and a bit of alcohol.
Just an initial start at some colour. Next up, making the foam and cubes look like rock and adding foliage and possibly some trees and vines.
