The first (anti) submarine warfare GB was a blast! Anyone up for round two?? Haven’t seen any destroyers last time…
Eligible builds:
Any submarine, destroyer, aircraft or helo will do as long as it is or has been involved in (anti) submarine warfare. Any era, any scale, any subject and any skill level is very welcome.

How bout a TBF 1C from the USS Block Island 1944… if it’s a go, count me in.
I will be game… and with an appropriate surface ASW ship. Need something to take out some of those pesky Rooskie subs I built in the last one…[;)]
I have the Dragon 1/350 USS Laffey Smart Kit (DD 459) that I would love to have a reason to build. Count me in.
Richard, i’d be up for a Revell 1/125 Type VIIc, i’ve done the kit before years ago but i’d like to do a waterline version…Provided you can tell me how you painted yours…

After the basic paint is on i start with a black wash (oil dirt and grime simulation),… white/ grey drybrushes (accentuating edges and making the detail pop)… rust washes(obvious…)…pastels(great for the underwater algea effect)… You name it, i slap it on LOL. I like using watercolors for washes because they come off real easy again when youre not satisfied. With the big sub i just went with what “felt” right and realistic… I fiddled so much with washes that i ended up using a full box (200pcs.) of q-tips!
Also consider small details like drilling out the flooding holes and the gun barrels. It does make it look more lively.
Lastly, might i suggest the 1/44 scale VIIC by revell? It is just an inch smaller but better detailed IMHO. And the smaller size makes it easier to incorporate into a water diorama… You will also have better luck finding figures in 1/144 as well as opposed to 1/125 which is a bit of an unusual scale.

Thanks Richard, yeah i prefer watercolours for washes, i have oils but i always go for the watercolours although i use the Derwent range of watercolur pencils and crush the pigment into powder and use qtips to clean up…
Regarding the newer type VII from Revell, i havn’t yet had a chance to look at one but i read the finescale reveiw…The only thing i was concerned about was the thick looking railing around the wintergarden area but again i havn’t had a chance to have a close up look yet…
I would definatly open up the flooding holes whichever one i choose to do, the last one i did years ago i sanded them out from the inside to open them up…

As help with my dio and painting techniques i used the water diorama tutorial on this page over at ipms stockholm:

Start with dark blue…add heavy washes of blue and a dab of emerald green…paint the very tops of the bigger waves white and white drybrush the rest, dark on the top, and lighter colors farther up.
Inbetween all this painting i was very generous with future layers as well.
Really loved doing that one. In fact, revell offers a VIIC/41 in 1/350 scale as well…might do it again[:)]

Have a lot of GBs right now, but that has never stopped me![:D] I would be willing to jump in with a P-3C. I have 1 in the stash that I have been wanting to get to and send to my dad. He worked on them for most of his Naval career. Great plane! Let me know when you get a start date!

Thanks Richard i bookmarked that site for further study…hey you were right about the U-Boats, i did some checking on the net and looked at some builds and the new tooled 1/144 type VIIc is head and shoulders above the old one so i’d be doing that one…Hmmm i’ll have to check for some AM i think…
I have a 1/72 Fairey gannet as1/4 from revell , only assembled some minor part … i can join?
Actually my choice will be an ASW Frigate (FFG), originally classed as a Destroyer Escort, GuidedMisile (DEG). The old Mongoram USS Ramsey.
