Is it okay to ask if anyone has a particular part on this forum?
My intentions were to ask if anyone has a part they don’t need and if so take the conversation off the forum to personal contact to trade for the part. But I wanted to ask if it’s okay first…
If the administrators have a problem with that, try www.armorama.com they allow this for sure and members are very responsive with helping out with missing parts,as I’m sure they would be here if allowed.
No problem, I think. I recently messed up a decal and asked if anyone had a spare they didn’t need, sure enough a kind soul sent me a PM and mailed me his unnwanted decal, no charge. Nothing wrong with that!
Last I knew it was an OK, I was participating in a GB and was looking for markings and someone sent me some echelon decals, and the image for the particular tank I was modeling. I’ve also sent parts and asked and received them as well. Even had a mod or admin or FSM Stafff member can’t remember who, look through their stash to see if they’ve had stuff for me before. Unless something has changed it should be ok.
I’m pretty sure offering up stuff for sale is a nono though, because that’s what FSM classifieds are for.
I’ve never had an Admin issue with parts either… As long as don’t “advertise” the parts you have, I don’y think it’s a violation…
“Need a 1/48 Tamiya A6M2 Canopy!” for a thread-title, with the post of “As stated, I need the canopy for the 1/48Tamiya A6M2 Zeke. Anyone have a spare?” will work…
Thread title of,
“Spare Parts-I Got What Ya Need”
with a post consisting of a list or link to a site of all the spare parts you have, free or not, is frowned upon and is definately advertising…
Regardless, once someone replies that they have a part you need, finish up the “transaction” back-channel, in PMs (Conversations)…
I don’t sell spare or replacement parts, BTW… I give them away, and only ask that the recipient “pay it forward” to another modeler in need some day…
