arrgh indy tracks frist time user and need help

well i am in the process of trying indy tracks for the frist time for a m-108. and its been a very slow go at doing them. i have the frist sprue all cleaned up and now i am cementing them together and its been a long slow process so far/ all ihave done is a 1 1//4 and thats it.but at least thier straight. so do yall have any tips to pass on for me.

I have a jig I made which is essentially a board with a straight edge board glued on top and another to use as a pinch. I get the tracks somewhat assembled then lay it against the fixed straight edge and ues the other to pinch the tracks between the two straight edges to seat the pins and keep the tracks straight.

Once I have a section pinned, If I know they will not have to flex, I use a syringe to move accross the pin seams and add a small amount of liquid cement. Flex sections I do not glue until mounted.

No matter what it is like nitting and seems to go on forever but yields very nice results.

Rounds Complete!!

I think I’m a bit warped as the tracks are my favourite bit.

What make are they, as different manufactuers have very different construction methods. Personally I like friul’s, white metal links and wire fixing. Resin links often just click together. Most plastic links have some clean up or other req’d, I’ve got some ModelKastens but not used them yet. I’ve just done AFV club’s Tiger 1 links and though a bit fragile went together quite easily, each link had a seperate part with a bar and guide tooth which was glued on, the idea being that they’re workable…hmmm. Looking at the pic I’m guessing you have to stick on the sprocket guide over the 2 link pins? Did you get a jig for them? Are they meant to be workable or not?

If they’re not workable, put some double sided tape down, get the links down in a good run then run some slow setting glue along them, while they’re drying get another track run done. I’ve never had any issues of tracks not being straight. When the glue starts to set 20-30min take off the tape carefully and match around the sprockets, hold on with tape, elastic bands or glue on if you wish.

hope it was of some help

I use a piece of masking tape sticky side up. I then take two pieces of tape to secure the other piece down and line up my tracks. I used this method for dragon magic tracks, regular link tracks and fruils. The doog has a great tot on armorama.

here is that link.
