Armour in the West GB (D-Day to Berlin)

Is it June yet?

Wait for it…wait for it. [;)]

Eagle90

Hey Eagle sign me up. The only armour kit I have at the moment for the allies is a crusader III which I don’t believe saw any action in Europe. So I have to make a trip to the hobby store and pick something up. Will let you know by the week end.

Hey shiv! Was hoping you’d pop on! Glad to have you. Got you on the list, so let me know what you’re building when you get it. Terrible you have to go to the hobby shop! [;)]

Lotsa nice projects in here, but I’m telling you: We need more Easy-8s! There’s no way we can overwhelm the Germans if we don’t have enough of those (or Jumbos). I heard they have a whole bunch of Tigers and Panthers…

Gee, I’ve got two Easy-8s but I’m intending to build them up as Korean War tanks with the cool tiger faces- sorry!!! [:O]

I notice we do have a Cromwell, a Firefly, and two Pershings- ought be enough to mount a good offensive there though!

well went to the store today to pick up some paint and such when I heard this muffled sound coming from the back. Of course my curiosity got the better of me and when I went to investigate there was this box yelling ‘TAKE ME HOME’. It was the cutest little M-24. So being the nice guy that I am I took him home. Now have Italeri’s 1/35 M-24 Chaffee.

Shiv, you are a true humanitarian! What a nice guy! I bet it flashed those puppy eyes and you just couldn’t resist!

Got it on the list for you. Great subject! Can’t wait to see it.

Eagle90

I can’t help it when things flash those big puppy headlights at me [&]

I hear ya! And do not blame you one bit! I bought 3 Revell 1/48 P-51’s, a Revell 1/48 F-86, and an Italeri 1/72 B-25 this weekend at the show…just because they looked so lonely sitting in that box all by themselves! [:(((] Poor little things! Lord knows I don’t need them, but I’m kinda like the Island of Misfit Toys King…I’ll take you home! [:$]

Eagle90

Well since I brought this little M-24 home I figured I should buy him some new shoes so I picked up some metal tracks from Friulmodel. Has anyone ever used these and know what I might expect?

Not with that particular set, but I am a big fan of Fruils, despite the cost, I am in the middle of putting a set together now.

Generally I find they go together pretty easy. Occasionally you may have to drill out some of the holes, I think I have had to do one on this set so far. I normally assemble the required length and then test fit, in case I have to add or remove any, and then I put a dab of CA glue on the open end. I normally check my references to see how many links I need and then make that many, but often I have to remove one or two.

In my best Ed Sullivan voice: “We’ve got a really big shew tonight, folks”

So I had a pleasant surprise last night. I was un-packing some of my stash, packed up for a move that didn’t happen, and found an un-opened Eduard etch set for the M26. I bought it at the same time I bought the HobbyBoss kit (I think) and forgot all about it. What a deal!

RBaer, now that is a pleasant surprise! Maybe I should go through my stash again! [:^)]

Eagle90

Yeah, I keep thinking I ought to keep track of all the bits and pieces I pick up at shows and such, but where’s the fun in that? I’d rather find “new” stuff now and then…

LOL! I have to laugh…after you posting that the other day, I went home last night and starting moving stuff around in the hobby room and found a pile of AM stuff I bought at an estate sale! Resin F-80 wheels, C-47 wheels, etc! Forgot all about them!

Eagle90

But do you have any kits to put them on, that’s the question.
