MRAP?

Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles. Pronounced “EM-rap”.

What about the GOER , pronounced “Gore” and the GAMMA GOAT?

im guessing you needed to do lots of research to find all that out.

Bump again

Track Pads- the sausage patties served for the breakfast meal in the chow halls across the Army.[bgr]

I know it’s old, but I was surfin’ and wanted to clarify what my friend the Clanker stated…

He has the SALUTE format right except for the “T”. It’s Time, not “Terrain”. The “SALUTE Report” is actually a misnomer… It’s more correctly called a “Spot Report”. One pet-peeve of mine that I heard all the time on the radio when a unit was calling in a Spot Report to the TOC, was using Line Uniform to tell me what uniform they were wearing… Drove me crazy… If you can tell what unit you’re looking at, whether by IDing a patch, distintive headgear, vehicle markings, epaulettes, anything of that nature, the Unit is more important than the uniform. The uniform the people are wearing would more correctly be in the “Equipment” line.

Angry-39 = AN/GRA-39 (Army Navy/ Ground Radio Accessory-39) : A remote speaker/microphone set that can be located up to 2 miles from the actual radio set itself and connected by field wire to the radio. It’s used to keep Mr. Im NotAmerican from blowing you up if he RDFs your radio.

Pri ck-77= AN/PRC-77 (Army Navy/Portable Radio Communications). “Pr ick” is used for all PRC-type radios only so don’t walk walk into the First Sergeant’s Office and tell him you sent to find a Pri ck E-8…

Yes when I was teh commo Sgt, one of the Team Sgts sent one of his cherries to lme looking for a PRC E-5… I told home to go back and tell his team Sgt they had to DX their old one first…[;)]

That’s effin classic!, lol lol…

Speakin’ of Cherries… How long did you wear the Cherry Pot?

Only once…[:$] We only wore helmets for jumps, all the rest of the time was boonies, pc’s, or berets…

Can anyone tell me why that even though I have not posted on this thread for over two years, ever since the latest format change, it has been the first thread under the “your discussions” tab every day? all day long? And there are several threads that I actively participate in with multiple posts daily…

And after my last post, this thread did not show up under “most recent activity”?

IF Interested I have a load of IED akronyms, and can also find my NATO akronym dictionary… (and is actually a bugger with all these acronyms… can take forever to read a report, because NATO nations don’t use standard akronyms within nations.)
