[8D]There is a Panther Group build starting soon, here is what is planned so far:
Open to any PzKpfW V Panther variant from any manufacturer.
I’ll leave it to the group to decide if we include Jagdpanther
and Bergpanther (it’s fine with me).
Start on Dec. 1, finish by Feb. 1 because of the holidays etc.
Hopefully by Dec. 1 my website will be up to host pics etc.
Comments and suggestions welcome.
[8D]It looks like Tigrman, PantherLehr, me and, possibly, Wipw are in now. Any others?
I’ll probably have plenty of time off from college during Christmas break so I guess I’m in. I have a steel wheel panther G and a jagpanther.
I doubt this is really possible since we’re not an organized group and have no group funds, but I think some sort of prize might be a good idea as an added incentive to work harder, faster, make a better tank? If you really want to pursue this idea, I suppose each participant could contribute a few dollars and we’d have to find someone trustworthy to be the treasurer and buy the prize. Currently, it’s probably a bad idea since we only have 5. At 5, maybe a photo-etch set of the winners choosing would be a good idea.
Tigerman OK we will include Jagdpanthers and Bergpanthers and any other Panther in1/35 scale.
Pantsless We don’t have prizes for a couple reasons:
We don’t want to scare off any new modelers, these are done for fun and are an
excellent way for beginners to see how a problem is resolved in “real time” and apply
to their own kit.
It would be real hard to judge them from pics on-line. Some of us, like me, are not very
good at taking pics.
If y’all will include the Jagdpanther I’ll play. I’ve got one that was barely started a while back but I can bring it out and try to work on it along with my 1/16 Tiger. I may not make the deadline because of the Tiger but I’m willing to try.
I agree to nix the prize idea claymore68, for the same reasons you listed.
Chris, welcome to the fray! This will be a good way for you to get started on armor. As Claymore mentioned, if you have a question on how to do something, all you have to do is post or email someone in the build group. We’ll all be glad to help you out!!
Well, this could be good experience, so if I’m able to scratch together the cash for a Panther, I’ll be in it for sure. I just hope I have the motivation to finish the kit by the deadline.
I’m in. As a lazy man, I will do a Panther from “Wiking” for the battles around Budapest in January 1945 – no zimmerit! [:p]
Great idea. I’ve got the Tamiya Panther G laying around, and this will get me motivated to build the damned thing. My photos will be terrible though. [:(]
I’m a go. I was going to work on the E next, but will just have to shuffle it down one kit. Now do I do the Dragon D, Early A, or the Tamiya A, which is a late model, but I’ve bought a mess of am mods for it. That may be the way I go, just to do something a little different.
Here’s a question…do we have to start with a “virgin” model, or can we have done some minimal startup stuff?
thanks for getting it started derek , nice to see so much interest , this should be fun with the wide variety of panthers. jagdpanthers and bergpanthers are fine with me.
got my stuff ordered a week ago, i can’t wait for everything to come in so i can have a look at the goodies. [:D]
yeah thanks Derek for getting the thread started [8)]
ive got a couple Gs to make and a Dragon early and late A [:D]
but my Dads mate wants me to make a German tank kit?i havnt asked him yet what but im guesing its going to be a Panther becouse his Step dad was in the 2nd SS panzer division in a Panther. im hopeing to get Photos (if any) and lots more info about his tank. so if its a Panther im in on the group build [:D]
i will if he has any Bill
ive just herd some stories about him and a schwimmwagon
Claymore are you going to try the Panther with Panzer 4 turret[:D] i found the photo of it in one of my books but cant find where it is now, all i remember it was on a train with other tanks
Bill: I don’t think it needs to be “virgin”, you just will be a little
ahead of the rest so you can figure out the problems first. [:D]
Jon: I think I’ll save the Pather with Pz IV Ausf H turret for later.
The converted Panther was an Ausf A (D1). For those that are wondering; the turret was bolted on with no traverse
and the vehicle was used for command on the eastern front in '43.
To All: Welcome to the jungle! This should be fun.
Whoohoo!! Now here is a group build where I don’t have to go buy anything… I’m In!
The Panther is no doubt the sleekest and sexiest looking of all WWII Armor.
Great timing, No traveling for work except the occasional duck hunt. This ought to help calm me down while our new show season gets wound up. I think these group builds are great ideas, I can’t wait. Time to hit the books and figure out what to make…
Right on!! I have the Tamiya Panther G Late and have not been able to start because of school/rugby/work. Finals are the first week in Dec, THAT’S PERFECT!!! I know what I’m doing for my first week off.[:D][:D][:D]
By the way, has anyone checked out that newer Panther G Late Version in 1/25th from Academy??? I might have to give that one a try too.[:p]
Getting PUMPED for a build!! And some time off too….
edog
Larry, you sound like me. LOL Glad to have all the newcomers aboard. I think if the Jadgpanther and Bergepanther are included, whomever are not working on those kits will get information that might come in handy when and if they build one themselves someday.
Bill, doesn’t sound like your too far ahead. Join the party.
Edog, that Academy 1/25 Panther sounds coolllllll…[8D]
Eric, after seeing your Marder, I’m sure your Jagdpanther will rock.
Thanks David for making it sticky. [8D]
