What is the proper finishing sequence for individual-link tracks on armor models? should I paint and assemble the tracks before adding them to the model, or after? I’m mainly concerned about the process of installing and painting individual-linked tracks.
any indies i’ve done were painted on the sprue, unless they’re already loose then i guess one at a time. don’t have a spraybrush
I cut them from the sprue and glue them into sections that will be easily manageable when putting them on the tank, usually 4 sections per side. Then I paint and weather them before adding them to the nearly complete vehicle. Final weathering of the entire vehicle with tracks on came then take place.
I do the same as sherm on my tanks , it seems much easier !
I’ve only built four vehicles with indy links. (One twice, repair job talked about in another thread). Two of them I built in sections then painted and weathered before installing. One I put together and then painted on the tank and the last I painted on the sprue then put them on the tank and weathered them. Building in sections is the easiest for me to deal with. My two cents.
