yes it’s a Nahverteidigungswaffe, actually from a Stug.
It’s the all encompassing Close Defense Weapon, smoke, mines, flares, nasty exploding grenade thing and orange smoke marker.

What you see here is the external vent found on most German vehicles of W.W.II for the fighting compartment gas extractor (knockwurstfartenout).
It was activated immediately after a night of far too much weiner & schnitzel.
