Old Hooker, Ajackets,and Jeeves;

Thanks, I’m glad y’all liked it!

JHulk, RRmelend, thanks!! I used the WWII flight deck section made by Just Plane Stuff. It’s made of resin.

Rad Max, Dave, and lerxst1031;

Thanks!! I got the needles where I work at (hospital). You could probably get some through a medical supply company.I cut them to length with my Dremel tool, using a small cutting wheel.

JK

The build looks great with the ocean background photo effect, or did you photograph it on a real carrier?

Can you tell me how you did your carrier deck; paint colors, weathering, etc.?

I’m building a TBF Avenger and want to put it on a deck as well.

Thanks. Great job on the build.

Kielers,

Thanks for the encouragement!!

The “ocean” is an 8.5 x 11" print of a wallpaper jpeg I pulled off of the 'net. I painted the flight deck as follows:

Airbrush the deck panel lines and PSP lines with black for pre-shading.
Then spray the base color of WWII flight deck blue (I mixed my own, but it’s available from several companies including Testors now).
Drybrush with grey and tan.
Seal with Future, then wash with 3 different watercolors; Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna, and Black.
Seal again with Matte coat; 70/30 Future/tamiya Flat Base.

Hope this helps!

I can only hope my Aries Hellcat turns out half a nice!! - Calvin

Thanks Lodni!

Very nice. And, no, you really cant get enough.

Thank You Blakjak…! No such thing as too many Grummans!!

I have that kit in my stash, hope it will turn out half as nice as yours. Very nice build.[:)][:)]

Man! I wish one of my “slow” builds looked that good! I have a couple of those kits as well as a couple Hawsegawa kits that are collecting dust. Maybe when I retire, ha, ha!

if you keep this up you’ll beat Pixi off his thrown, great job, I like the old Arii/Otaki F6F Hellcat kit, haven’t tried the newer ones yet but someday I will

Thanks Guys, for the encouragement…! Ummm…Pixilater’s Throne, as it were, is safe and sound. Bill has a style all of his own that you just have to admire…I’m just sticking some kits together for fun is all…! I’m glad you like my work though thanks!!

Best regards,
JK
