I do not wish to start a political or social discussion, but just to ask. If I want to “buy American”, is/are there model makes that would be such? Or are all companies foreign based, foreign owned.

Hawk, Lindberg, Accurate Miniatures, Monogram are owned by US base companies. The question is what project that is Made In America is assembled totally from components that are also Made in the USA? Your car…definitely not. Your shoes…I doubt it. Every public company has the potential to be “owned” by foriegn investors through their purchases of stocks in any given company.
So are you asking what companies are owned, what products are made or what products are assembled in America by US citizens?

All US-owned & operated model companies. In addition there are aftermarket companies such as Gold Medal Models and Toms Modelworks which are US companies.
Glencoe Models is owned and operated by Nick Argento in the Worcester MA area.
Thanks for the replies. I knew there are more specific aspects to what I raised; who owns, where located, where materials purchased from, where manufactured, etc… But these replies are adequate for the high level which is all I am after.

Revell/Monogram appears to be currently owned by a US based corporation AMT/ERTL is another that comes to mind. But as far as actual products go, many kits apear to be molded overseas, then packaged in the US. Many companies operate along a variance of this theme. But the days of 30 years ago when there were multiple US model companies(Revell, Monogram, AMT/ERTL, Aurora, Lindberg, Hawk/Testors, Pyro/LifeLike, MPC) in competition with one another appears long gone. Today’s international business climate has killed that. Due to mergers, labor costs, environmental regulations, etc. it is more cost effective to do those aspects of business elsewhere and have the executive side here.
Is Williams Bros. a US company?
Dave
Yes, Williams Brothers is an American company. Although it is no longer owned by the Williams Brothers according to their website.
I’m still looking for a Dutch model company… never has been, never wil be…[V]
