Are Hobbyboss doing an F-111F?

I was wondering if anybody knows whether Hobbyboss are planning on producing an F-111F as part of their new F-111 series, I have tried searching on this and come up with zilch.

I have my Afterburner decals Lakenheath Varks sheet and I’m planning on doing an F-111F but was wondering should I try and convert the Hobbyboss D/E or simply wait.

Cheers

Yeah all i came up with on the HobbyBoss site was an F-111c is Aus markings…

If the F model is exported western Europe like I think it was I think it was a renamed FB-111A much like when the FB-111A was sent to Oz and renamed the F-111G.

Much like the F-4F being a renamed F-4E when it was transfered to the LuftWaffe

Me too Jules, if I was going to do a RAAF bird I’d be going for a G model but I really want to do a n F model from operation El Dorado Canyon which was the strike against Libya.

Heya Mikey,

If I recall correctly, the redesignation occurred before the RAAF bought the aircraft. Originally FB-111A’s, when retired from the strategic role, a conventional bombing capability was retrofitted to the FB’s so they could be used as “tactical” aircraft. This resulted in the aircraft being redesignated F-111G, and these were used for a period by the USAF.

I believe there were about 15(?) aircraft purchased by the RAAF, but they were already designated F-111G, it was not a result of the sale.

PS: Australia was the only export customer for the F-111. The “F” model was exclusivley USAF and was never exported to any other country.

i believe the only really noticeable external difference between the E(which bobbyboss make a kit of) and the F is the engine exhausts, and im pretty sure you can pick these up A/M

cheers, chris

Jim Rotramel has a site ( something like “f111.net” ) and describes differences. While there are several ones between E and F, the most visible is the exhausts as F is the only one to have those engines. Paragon made them but I don’t even know if they are available nowadays, even if it seems that Paragon is under new management. Ozmods issues are not recommended by Rotramel. Anyway, when Hobbyboss releases the E version, no doubt that companies like Quickboost will release the matching items.

have a look here http://www.clubhyper.com/referenc.htm and scroll down to Jim Rotramel’s 9 part article on the F-111, it should cover pretty much everything you will want to know, in the weapons article there is a chart of the load outs used during the Libya raids!
