I stink at figures. I have a few finished tanks with the figuresnstill in the box. Well, I bought Archer eyes to see if that helps me out. Anyone have any experience with these?
Dunno, do they help you hit the bull’s eye more often? (sorry couldn’t resist…) [:O)]
Never used them before, but I have to say my eye work has gotten better, maybe it is my eyes have gotten better over time (couldn’t resist either). In all seriousness I have never used them and have never seen any on a figgie.
Gee I’ll have to keep an “eye” out for those JWest21, never “seen” them before. Eyes are my weak link to painting figures also. semper fi, mike
Well, I was going to use them tonight. Followed the directions- painted the head, painted the eyes white, did my wash and then a funny thing happened. The eyes looked really good. The wash perfectly filled in around the eye and even in the pupil. I think I shall write an article entitled “How to Bumble into Good Looking Eyes: The complete idiots guide to eye painting”
I’ve seen them, but I’ve only used their monster eyes on a Godzilla model I built for my grandson. On 1/35th figures I don’t paint eyes anyway. I intentionally use the same method you used by accident. Looks good enough for me. [B)]
You’d make millions…seriously!
Some of the most satisfying experiences in this hobby for me come about exactly as you describe. You stumble on something and have that eureka! moment when it just blows you away and then immediately gets added to your stock of standard tricks/methods.
Of course the downside is when you achieve a great result and it happens invariably either late at night or in an altered state due to glue/paint exposure and you can’t remember how you did it the next time around!
wbill- It was late at night! How did you EVER know?? Well, it has given me hope (false?). I will try a few more figures, probably some with the Archer eyes. Let you know how they work if/when I use them
Spamicus- it does look pretty good. You see some figures with the eyes painted and they look fanatastic, but then you see ones where their eyes look like they are bulging out of their heads, like Arnold Swartzeneggers in Total Recall
