Well, I would have posted this in the thread to which it belonged, but it got locked down…it’s not my intention to resurrect it here, only to apologize if it offended any military members here, many of whom I consider my friends, and hope still remain.
Anyway, after watching the post about Russia weave and dip in ways that were entirely unexpected and unintended, I have re-read it several times to try to understand where it went awry.
I woke up this morning, turned on the TV, saw images of tanks moving on the screen over the headlines, and posted my post. In retrospect, I can see where some may have misinterpreted it as a political screed; it was not intended as such.
Knowing that so many of our guys are over in Iraq, I was wondering if any reserves remained to counter what might have been a shrewd move by the Russian army to advance? I guess I worded it badly; I tried to clarify it, but perhaps did not succeed. I do not want to elicit responses to that question here in this post; just trying to clarify my misguided intentions.
Anyway, I want to apologize to anyone whom might have thought that I was making political statements–which I admit now that I see could have looked that way. I have tried to keep the political out of these forums as much as possible; this is my “safe haven” from that.
And as far as being “Off Topic” well, I can only say that, sincerely, I didn’t think it was at the time? Don’t know how else to put that–I would have been fine with the moderators moving or deleting it. I’m sorry if that aggravated some–again, not my intention. And yes, I know that this post is technically “off topic” as well; but this is the “scene of the crime”, so…sorry once again…
If anybody wants to rant at me, feel free–but lets not do it in public, and risk more divisiveness here in the community. PM me; I can take it.
