Anyone willing to help in posting pictures?

Hello All,
Just got a camera and am trying to figure out how to post some pictures[BH]. If there are any kind souls (I’m sure there are) that are willing to help a technically challenged, slow to grasp new things kind of guy[:I], any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Be mindfull it could be a very trying time for anyone who steps forward in an attempt to stamp out ignorance[bow][bow].
Regards,
Joe

Once you’ve got your pictures on to your computer, you need to find a place to host them. You cannot take them from your hard drive and plunk them in here. Some guys use their own web sites. Most service providers allow some space for subscribers’ web pages. You can also try a photo hosting site like www.photobucket.com. They offer free hosting for a limited number of pics. I don’t remember how much, but I haven’t run out yet, and I’ve got about 50 or so hosted there. If you check the community assistance forum you should find out about other hosting options. Once you’ve got that the rest is dead easy. Again, check the community assistance forum for the exact instructions. I’m not much of a computer whiz at all, and I got it down pat in an evening. Good luck, and check back in if you need more help.

OK here are the basic steps:

1.) Upload you picture files in any of the available photo hosting sites on the web such as Photobucket, Ron’s Gallery…To do this you need to sign up for an account which is FREE for some hosting sites.

2.) Copy the filename or address of your pics ex.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v626/Dwight_Ta-ala/Model%20Pictures/Dio12a.jpg

for my picture file that I upload at Photobucket.

3.) When you post here, you will see a bunch of icons on top of the empty message. Click the one for the picture (next to the e-mail icon). You may also point to the icon (without clicking) to check their respective functions. In this case you will get a message “insert image” when you point to the icon.

4.) Click the “insert image” icon. You will see the [ img][ /img] symbols (without spaces) in the message box.

5.) Insert your picture filename or address in between the [ img and [ /img] symbols. ex.

[ img]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v626/Dwight_Ta-ala/Model%20Pictures/Dio12a.jpg[ /img]

(note should be without spaces between the [ and img] or [ and /img].)

6.) Hit the “post new reply” botton at the bottom of the message box and you are good to go.

Thanks for the information. I too am technilogically challenged, so the information is a lot of help. Thank you.

Hey, Buff /Dwight,
Thanks for the replies. Will check out the web hosting pages and see if I can get some images up. Really appreciate you guys taking the time to help out[:D].
Regards,
Joe

No problem, Joe. Anytime.

Greetings,
Guess what? Got my account at photobucket[:D], and now can’t figure out how to do the rest[:I].
Tried copying the file name but can’t gey anything to upload on the photobucket site.
Perhaps a few explanations would help(though I doubt it). What is HTML? I take it an URL is an address for a particular site?
When I’m at photobucket, I do have the download/upload from the computer option selected, but like a mushroom, I’m still in the dark.
It’s bad enough putting my ignorance and stupidity on public display, I’m just grateful I don’t have to show my face (although it would probably help you understand why I can’t figure this out)[swg][swg].
Will be waiting on the compasionate for a reply. I must be off.[8]
Regards,
Joe

Well, when I copy the image name and try to paste it in the picture box at photobucket, I come up with this message *One or more pictures has an invalid format (jpg|gif|png|bmp|swf). Anyone?
Regards,
Joe

If you’re having a problem uploading to the host site, I would try to get someone from there to help with that. Although I openned a photobucket account, I haven’t used it yet. I use fotopic.net, which allows you to browse the photos on your computer to find the one you want, then just clicking on the picture puts the proper address on it for uploading. As far as inserting a photo into a post, you need the URL of the pic, which you get by right clicking on the picture, then clicking on properties. The URL goes between [img] brackets within the post. You can type them yourself, or use the icon on the tool bar.

Uploading files at Photobucket is different. You will have this:

Picture ____________ Browse
Tag or Title ___________ _Optional

Submit Reset

Multiple Pictures

You click the “Browse” button and this will display the items on your computer desktop i.e. My Computer, My Documents, Network Neighborhood, etc.

Click to the location where you are storing your picture files (in your computer). If you have stored you files in the My Documents folder then click it until you get to the subfolder where you stored your picture.

Click the name or filename of your picture. It will be inserted automatically into the Picture Box.

Click the “Submit” button below the Picture box and the Tag or Title box.

After a few seconds you will see your picture in the page (bottom) in the following format:

Move Edit Delete
Blog

Your Picture

URL _________
TAG __________
IMG __________

Click on the text inside the URL box.
Right click the mouse and choose “copy”

Go to the FSM site and start a new thread by using the “New Topic” Button.

Click the “insert image” icon and click in between the [ img] and [ /img] symbols.

Right click on the mouse and choose paste.

The url will be pasted in between the symbols and you are ready to go.

Hi Dwight,
Getting too late to try that tonight, but will give it a go tomorrow. I really appreciate all the info (plus typing) to try and get me straightened out.
You have my undying gratitude[bow][bow][bow][bow]
Thank You,
Joe
