I just finished episode 8 last night. Good stuff. They referred to Brig. Gen. Anthony McAuliffe’s response to Lt. Gen. Heinrich Freiherr von Luttwitz’s requst for surrender.
Mascot huh? Thanks for the clarifacation Watchmann. But I’m still not sure why they chose to post this particular view of Mr Hippo, but then, there are many aspects of Japanese culture I don’t fully understand. [whstl]
I think I’ll get a big bowl of Basashi Aisu, (raw horseflesh ice cream) and top it off with a double helping of Shirako (you can look that one up) and go play with my Urinal Elephant. [+o(]
Please just laugh, no offense intended, no hate mail please…It’s not like there aren’t weird foods and stuff here. It’s all relative. [bgr]
Watch carefully. There’s plenty of other little homages to tanks and WWII. I think it’s in Ep 2 that they go shopping at “Market Garden”. They actually watch a scene from Kelly’s Heroes in Ep 10. Not to mention the Tamiya and Dragon model boxes in the background of the store, and again in one of the girl’s rooms.
Even if you don’t buy the premise, its worth watching just for the wonderful tank animation.
When does the group build start? I forgot that I have a Tamiya M3 Lee in the stash (was going to sell it) that I could paint pink. [;)] I’ve got other plans for my Academy M3.
Dragon have never tooled a Tiger (P) prototype, as shown in the illustration. I can only assume the kit will build their uparmoured Tiger (P) with the production turret.
I don’t really have anything from the series but I swear if Watchman builds a pink M3 Lee I’ll do a M18 Hellcat with an all female crew- I’m thinking a hypothetical American team with cowgirls…
Thanks Armourguy, I haven’t watched that far. I was thinking with an open top TD I could put the whole crew in there instead of just having them popped out of the hatches.
I was thinking about it last night and I’ve got a 1/48th Tamiya M10 in the stash which is pretty close in scale to some 25mm cowgirl gaming figures I have… [^o)]
