Anyone here ever build a Sprint car model?

I’ve only been modeling for a few months and I’m really looking forward to building a sprint car model. However, I don’t want to paint and decal the car to look like one of the driver’s, I’d like to customise it. I’d also like to put a realistic “race” feel to the car, like making it look dirty and maybe even slightly dented here and there. If anyone has any tips, hints or other advice for me on this matter I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks. [:D]

Did you ever find out any tips on making the car have a “dirt track” look to it?

I have built only one but if you want I could send you the driver that I did not use. I really can not help you other than giving away parts that I did not use in cars that I have built. I mostly build stock cars but try watching either ESPN or the Speed Channel on TV. I know that sometimes that they show old races and sometimes TNN shows them. I have a lot of parts from many different kits that I have built or have built for other people and would like to give the parts away.

I’d be interested in those parts if you still have them WHolmes. If you’d care to email me we could go from there.

HEY,
For putting dents in: soak the body of the car in VERY HOT water for a few minutes. It may take lomger depending on the type of plastic and how hot the water is. After a few minutes, take it out and the body should be a bit softer and you should be able to mold in the dents whereever you want. May i suggest that you get this months issue on FSM and use that “Weathering with salt” technique in those areas. E-mail me at dubix88@yahoo.com if you wantme to tell it to you.

To make it look dirty: use that salt weathering technique and drybrush the body with a brown and/or a gray.

Sorry if this don’t work. Post the results.
