I have not been able to get this Cutting Edge checkerboard fuselage stripe to settle into the panel lines on this Skyraider regardless of what setting solution I use. I put about 3 or 4 applications of Micro Sol on it and it didn’t work.
I have even put 3 or 4 applications of Solvaset on it and it still doesn’t look painted on like I would like. Are these decals thick or is it possible that the panel lines were not deep enough to get it to settle in there? [%-)]

Hi Mike, I have used Cutting Edge decals with no major problems, but sounds like you have been unlucky. Heres 2 ways I attack the problem. First, you could try Solvaset which is a much more aggressive setting agent. I rarely use it cause it tends to melt modern decals, so test it first on a scrap decal from the sheet. Second, when all else is good, except for a stubborn reluctance to conform to a panel line, I gently run the tip of my fingernail along the panel line & over the decal which will stretch the decal down into the recess. Just be careful, light pressure is usually enough & you don’t want to tear the decal. May be better answers but it usually works for me. Good Luck.
mike the guy who did the greek phantom on the post i do , said he had to use loads of micro sol to get the desired effect of painted roundels they were cutting edge as well

Re-read my post as I put Solvaset on it 3 or 4 times already. [;)]
I will try my fingernail as you said and see if that works.
These decals have been on the model for a few weeks already so I don’t know if the setting solution works as well after that amount of time.
Does time affect the decal’s ability to conform?

Sorry Mike, I read right over the Solvaset, only the Microsol registered in my tired old brain [:I]. I’m really not sure about the time factor. I have never let decals set more than overnight between setting solution applications. Would assume the more the decal adhesive cures the less likely they would react to setting solutions, but that’s strictly a guess. Try the other method on a panel line that won’t be real visible on the finished model, if you can, & see how it works. BTW you can do that on a dry decal, in fact might be a lot safer to try it dry for your first attempt. Sure hopes it works for you. I’m anxious to see the finished bird.

It is still going to be a while until the Skyraider is done as ‘chopperfan’ is sending me two 1/48 napalm tanks as well as two gun pods to put on it.
I think that would look good with two napalm tanks, two gun pods, the centerline fuel tank, six extended fuse Mk82s and four standard fuse Mk 82s. [tup]
