Anyone have any ideas about scratchbuilding Original Viper?

Hey guys… It is kinda hard to get your hands on a Viper kit these days for a sane price… And secondly, I like all my models to be in scale… Now as I model planes in 1/72, and most of my Star Wars are 1/72 or similar (Fine Molds)… I have decided that I would like to have a 1/72 Colonial Viper from the original series!..

Have any of you ever thought about scratching one… And if so. How would you go about doing it?. Any references you could share?

I don’t know how accurate you want it to be, but you could try it the same I’m doing with my AT-ST ; you download a papermodel and you can start from there.
You can download the papermodels for both a Viper and a Raider at

Hey thanks for that Dan… That seems more apealing to just cut the pieces to match, rather than sculpting!

I’ve never scratched anything and found myself to have grown to the way the viper looks. Would you want to work along side? I could use as many tips as you could give. I think I’d make mine 1:48 or so just because I like the bigger models.

I am more than happy to share info ilikespagetti, but I am a ways off starting mine… I was just putting feelers out to see if anyone has done it in the past… Will keep you posted when I get moving!
