"Anyone got that new Academy M7 Priest!?!?!"

I just saw the M7 Priest workbench review in March, 2008 FSM…that is one sweet looking piece of armor[:O]!!!. I’ve been wanting to build another American tank but couldn’t decide what to try next…I just decided!!! I’ve wanted to try an open top heavy armor vehicle too…daily double…I’ll even have a couple of extra US troop figures left after my “Jimmy” that I can add to it…trifecta!!!

Anybody currently working on this bad boy???..what do you think of it???

I’ve been waiting for it to arrive at the various online stores since November. It seems to be delayed time after time. If I could ever get my hands on it, it would be moved to the top of the build lineup.

And I’ve been waiting for an M7 for some years… [banghead]

It’s now available at Squadron & Great models, probably more as well. It’s featured in this months Squadron flyer. Looks pretty neat.

Regards, Rick

It’s on the shelf at my LHS (High Sierra Hobbies), several of them as a matter of fact. [:D]

I was really tempted to buy one last time I popped in… may go back tomorrow. [swg]

espins1,

Go ahead and pick one up and let me know if you like it…easy for me to say[;)]. I’ve never tried an Academy kit, have you?

By the way, were you at the High Rollers model contest last September at that school near the air races??? I was there with my kids. Are you making the trek to Hobby Expo in Petaluma next Saturday???..Weather permitting, of course for you, having to get over those Sierras. I’ll be there with four of my builds, it’s sponsored by two bay area IPMS chapters, should be a good one!

I picked one up at my local shop. Jim (got me started on armor a couple of years ago) ordered a couple for their shelves. I went home with one of them (as with a “few” other kits). The contents have been thoroughly perused. I looks like a nice build owing well to either OOB or working on the scratch building. Looking forward to seeing a build. I’ve currently got a couple of other projects going and only so much time. Now I could have a 36 hour day… and a 14 day week…

Cheers

Dave

I’ve got one of the old Italeri ones; they build up pretty nicely. Of course I’ll replace the AWFUL TRACKS!

“BOO!” to Italeri tracks!!! [soapbox]

I saw it at my LHS but a resuble price, she a nice one and intersted to get it.

I agree.Word must get around.Italeri Shermans don’t fetch commanding prices on ebay.

Just went to Italeri dot com and hit the “contact” button and sent a nasty gram about their tracks…

[#ditto] Lets start a FSM forums “movement”!! [(-D]

I tried and got a “server error”. Drat, I agree. Italeri make decent kits with frequently unusable tracks. Maybe the same to Academy…

Ya, Italeri tracks are abysmal. They repel paint like nothing else I know. blech [xx(]

Sigh…

What I’d do for a decent LHS within 20 miles of here. Everybody else seems to be stocking it except mine, and the site I really wanted to use. (Shipping at cost and the kit is $29)

I try not to use the road wheel condoms that come with the kits, but sometimes you almost have no choice. Rob G gave me a place to find resin tracks for Italeri’s M110 but prior to that I used the kit tracks.

You need to soak them in cleaner first. They will paint with enamel. Use epoxy to hold them togeather. Then to put them on, treat them like pasta. Put in boiling water for about 30 seconds and then get them on before they cool.

Hopefully they don’t shrink so much that they start popping road wheels.

After all that, indy tracks become a blessing when you can.

Rounds Complete!!

I got the kit last week and have to say it’s not bad…I’ve seen worse but there are a few problems with the kit …First off PUNCH MARKS !!! everywhere …there are two missing screens on the engine deck but you can just add lots of stowage …the interior is kind of a mix and match of different models early and mid …Ammo stowage is kinda wierd they don’t give you the squares that separate the individual ammo and they are only half as deep as they should be .You need the M3 type dials for the drivers position on this early type .the drivers compartemnet is kinda sparse up there but I guess for what you can see it does the job… It would have been more correct for the early type to have the threee piece tranny cover from the M3 kit . The .50cal should have the early 50 round ammo box . And the 105 is made up in a strange way and some of the details look a little soft . It would have been nice if they would have supplied the dust guards and other British features in the kit as well but hey ,we do have a new Priest and I can’t wait to get at it . With a few good references I’m sure it will turn out just fine .

Rick

Got mine in the mail yesterday. Haven’t opened it yet but am looking forward to it. From the review in this month’s FSM, looks to be a great kit!
