Anyone Familiar With Modelcraft??

Hi Guys,

I am looking for a de Havilland DHC-6 Twin Otter on Floats and it seems that the only kit around is one offered by ModelCraft. I can’t seem to find any online stores that sell this line. Anyone know of a preferably Canadian dealer offering mail order? I have e-mailed Modelcraft but got no reply. Any help and/or comments appreciated.

Thanks,

RODC

The Twin Otter is a repop of the old Matchbox kit.

I don’t know about Canadian dealers, but it looks like it is out of production, as Greatmodels, Squadron, and Roll Models don’t list it.

Your best bet would be to pick up Revell’s new re-release of this kit, which includes floats, skis, or conventional landing gear.

HTH![:)]

I got the modelcraft Twin Otter about two years ago, don’t recall who I bought it from though. Also got the Matchbox version. As mentioned they are the same kit but I fould the Modelcraft was a bit better. The Modelcraft was molded in white, matchbox in yellow, and the Modelcraft decals were better.

Not sure when Revell’s is coming out but its listed on their website so probably by the end of the year if you can wait.

Which ever brand you get its a nice kit with many options.

IIRC, the release date is May 2008, which means beginning of June you’ll start to see it.

Thanks Guys…good to see Revell is putting out some of their old classics such as the Lysander and Catalina again in addition to the Twin Otter. Unfortunately they state on their website that these kits are being produced from the original 30-40 year old molds and so may have “burrs and imperfections…”. This sort of concerns me. According to the reviews of the Modelcraft version, it is supposed to be a pretty decent kit and I would hate to get a potentially lesser quality Revell kit in place of the Modelcraft one. I may however, have no choice in that matter.

Thanks for the info…
