I’ll be going to Ft Lauderdale, Florida next week (yeah, I’ll probably go to Model Expo –again) and I’d like to take some materials but I do not want to worry about airport security issues. I thought of just a few subassemblies (cockpit, engine pieces) and maybe some acrylic paints and some liquid cement. No metal pieces (files, clamps).
Or maybe just sand paper and the kit pieces. Metal lids on jars, you know. I could get glue down there but I don’t want to buy a lot and leave it down there
You can carry a lot on check-in luggage, but I would stay away from carrying anything other than kit parts and sandpaper with you. I think even paint and glue would make the agents search more thouroughly. I just finished writing a paper and a presentation over aviation security for my aviation safety class, so I have done some research. Check out TSA’s website www.tsa.gov , they have a lot of guidelines. Hope this helps.
