Anyone built an Eduard ME-110?

Hi, looking for opinions on the build. Too complex for a newb like me? Thanks.

I built the C model…think that was the one. There were a ton of parts and some nice options, but I think that also worked against the kit. I had two serious areas of fit issues, which may cause a challenge. The first was the covering of the forward gun bay, it just flat out does not fight right to the fuselage. If you want to close up the front this will be less of an issue. The second was a substantial step behind where the engine cowlings and the wings join. This involved a good amount of putty build up and sanding to get smooth, honestly not very fun. I’ve seen these issues mentioned by others on this kit. Finally I had a problem that was likely unique to my box. In mine, the stud/attachment that sticks out from the wings to go into the fuselage was badly warped. On a normal kit each part of the wing (top/bottom) has half of this part, it goes together then goes into the body for support. In my kit these “studs” were warped and peeled apart from each other like a rose petal. Had to saw them off and just glue the wing straight on, which caused serious challenges in regards to proper wing alignment. I’ve heard that Eduard has improved on these issues, but if you have an earlier model like me I’d rate the build as moderate. Great markings and detail, but I was somewhat surprised by these issues in an Eduard kit. For what it’s worth these problems caused me to “86” the build. Some other issues were my fault, and in the end it didn’t live up to my standards. (I’m a little harsh due to limited shelf space and constant moving). I’d say go for it if you already have the kit, but just dry fit the nose and engines as these will be your challenging areas. When done this can be a really stunning build.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry you had “one of those builds”. I should have been a little clearer, it was an “E” model that was on auction for a ridiculously low price. I let it go, because I wasn’t sure it would be up my alley in terms of buildability. I tend to like fighters, but always liked the lines of the 110. Perhaps I’ll keep my eye on a future auction if you or anyone recommends the E. Was it used in the B of B, or were the C’s used? Thanks again for your reply.

Tigerman,

I would suggest you take a stab at one of these kits. Sure, they may be a bit beyond your skill level at this time. But the only way to improve is to challenge yourself. No matter what, I am sure you will enjoyt hte process, even if it doesn’t come out perfect.

Just a thot

Eric, whats up brother. I have seen the kit up close and personal and it looks great. You could knock it out no problem.

Hi Tigerman,

I am now building an bf 110 G4 from Eduard. It is nearly the same as the E type. It’s really a great kit and everything is well fitted and easy building! So as i may say for the next time i would buy the kit!

Greetz

Thanks! I knew I should have gotten it. It sold for just $11. I was too gunshy though.

Bob, you’re too kind, I haven’t really built an A/ C before, except for the slap together Mongram kits in the old, old days.

hi. i havn’t begun construction short of washing and priming major parts. i have the D model. like another poster said, i mostly prefer fighters, but find the lines of the BF 110 very attractive and pleasing to the eye. if this kit is anything like the 190A6 i am working on now, basic prep of parts like removing flash and mould lines if necessary ensures everything fits together well. the PE frets look daunting, and i HATE those little levers that are so finicky. PITA!

I’ve built the E when it first came out, it was their first kit. $11 is seriously a great deal! It’'s not the easiest build, but isn’t the hardest either by any means. I’ve seen your armor builds and think you should have no problem. I have a writeup detailing my entire build and in-progress pictures, perhaps that will help you make up your mind as to the work involved. Here’s the link if you want to look it up

Thanks waikong. That was very imformative. I’ll keep an eye out in the future for one.
