Anyone built a T35??

Hi all, im currently building one of Russias land Battleships. Ive found a few pics online but they seem suprisingly scarce. Has anyone built one of these for a reference?

Thx Kykeon. Ive got a few pics myself. I try to save the images, that way i can never lose em lol. Wait till you start yours… Wheels, wheels everywhere. Whos the kit that you have? Mines an Alanger.

I have the ICM kit. Something like 769 parts, plus whatever is on the PE…ugh. It’s probably the next kit I’ll build, it will keep me busy for a while.

I have the ICM T-35 kit also. The thing is Huge! It literally dwarfs any other AFV of that era. I don’t know how well it goes together, but the parts look well detailed and fairly clean. A really interesting vehicle…from what I’ve read was never committed to battle action, but looked very impressive on parade through Red Square. I think it will be a very challenging but satisfying build. I probably won’t attempt this one for a little while though.

i have 2 of those icm along with 2 t-28 and a bridgelayer baed on the t-28 all by icm

in theory the russians were trying to develop REAL tanks while we were devloping toys (by comparision) m2 m3 tanks

Ive not seen the ICM version. I have the Alanger version. The build is coming along now. Progress has been made on the running gear. Now that was a small mountain to climb. Half the bits in the huge box relate to the running gear and yes, Shes a Whopper. She is also full of sink marks and very few location pins so caution is of the upmost. Heres what she looks like so far. Ive also assembled 2 of the 5 turrets and a few other odds and sods of the upper deck.

I think the tank must have been commited to battle at some time as these pictures of captured and damaged tanks appear to have been taken during the war.

And you are correct, some did see battle action. The excerpt below is from the website:

“In all only 61 T-35s were completed and all of these vehicles served with the same tank brigade which was stationed just outside Moscow. Some T-35s went into action in the winter war with Finland and in practice, fire control over 5 turrets proved to be a difficult task for the commander. During the German invasion of Russia a hand full of T-35s saw action and were encountered by the Germans at Lvov in Poland (the East of which was Russian occupied), however, these tanks had run out of fuel. The rest were retained to defend Moscow, although whether any T-35 actually took part in the battles round Moscow in the winter of 1941/42 is unclear.”

So much for my knowledge of Russian AFVs [D)]

I’m really looking forward to watching the progress on this penta-turreted landship.

Thx for the Info Larry, That site you gave me is great. Tonights mission is to De-bananarise the upper hull and finish the last 3 turrets. Oh yeah, then fill a few[censored] sink marks.

I built the ICM T-35 earlier this year, personally I loved the kit, and the tank is oh-so-cool looking. about 10 million indy track links though. I would’t use my kit as a referecen (no idea how accurate it is) but here’s some brain food:

Ian - superbly weatherd landship. I like the harsh look you gave it. Looks like it got shot up a bit as well, judging from the lower armor penetration. My guess is that the vehicle may have ran out of gas on the battlefield and took a few hits from the enemy before the tank crew finished them off.

Wow! its like a battleship, except its smaller and has wheels, but I lost count of T’s at 72.[(-D]

Well, de-bananarisation went fairly well. So did the turretathon. This is how far she is now. Not long to go but the tracks may take me a week or 2. (Theyre enormous)

Those metal barrels should make a HUGE difference with the finished kit… Watch out for those !7! Degtyarev MG’s, I broke each of mine atleast 5 times. Nice work so far.
