I got the new B-29 kit earlier this week and plan on building it in the near future but Id like to hear what you think of it.
I’m currently building it for a review at IPMS/USA. Here’s what I have so far:

I just got the 1:48 scale Monogram B-29, yesterday. I guess it’s the new one. Although the box looks kind of old-fashioned, I think it’s a new Monogram logo in the corner.
The box is huge!! It’s bigger than the 1:32 Academy F-18, which was the biggest model box I’d ever seen.
I can’t wait to start on this one – it’s going to be a monster! I’ve only just gotten back into this hobby after about a ten year break, so I’m building up my skills and want to wait a bit to build it.

and as I said before it is the retooled B-29 and not an entirely new kit because it still has the Fat Man and Littleboy Atomic bombs which I actually think are pretty cool and I think I will build those seperate and display them as seperate kits. Oh and by the way I got 2 sets of the same decal sheet If anyone is missing a decal sheet let me know.
I have the old and new kits.I haven’t built the new one yet but it looks about the same as the old one with some new parts and decals.The old kit was a good build with few fit problems.I expect the new one to be just as good.I have some big plans for a maintenance scene for one of the new kits.I’m hopeing that someone puts out some pe for it soon.If you like BIG bombers,it’s a fun kit.I plan to start on mine as soon as I clear some space on the bench currently covered with the monogram 1/72 B-36.Even in 1/72,it’s huge.
Retooled? What exactly is retooled on the new kit?
As far as I know the only differences are a new sprue with Hamilton Standard Hydromatic props and the older style AN/APQ-13 radome between the bomb bays, maybe a couple different antenna configurations as well. The Curtiss Electric reversible pitch props are still included as is the AN/APQ-13 with a later model larger more streamlined dome… along with the turret fairings to build an Atomic Bomber.
and another Radome for a Korean War era Superfortress as well as the instructions showing how you can change the tailgun from the one with the 20mm cannon into one where the cannon housing is removed and the twin 50’s still remain
