I saw this airbrush new to my LHS and it looked kind of cool. I think the green colour is gimmicky, all it needs is to to say extreme spelt with a capital X somewhere on the box!
It looks to be of good quality and I think the pistol trigger looks cool. My finger get sore on a regular brush. If I’m really focused on what I’m painting I will become aware that I have a death grip on my airbrush. This thing retailed for $259.99. Well over the cost of pretty much any Badger or Iwata. But I’d never heard of it.
Anybody have experience with this brand? Not considering buying it just wondering. [:)]
I’ve been using a GREX XN for about a year now as my detail brush and have been very happy with it. I’ve been told it’s the same quality as an Iwata at a much lower price. I’ve never used an Iwata so I can’t say one way or the other though.
The price seems awful high though, KPL Systems where I bought mine has it listed for a hundred dollars cheaper.
I played with them at last years Nat’s in Ohio. Good value. IMHO they don’t offer anything over any of the other 50 brands out there. If one is looking to get into airbrushing for modeling I’d recomend them. But if you already have a brush or two of another brand you are happy with, something in the $50-$100 range, then Grex isn’t going to offer you anything better than what you have.
I have a good friend that recently switched to Grex over Tamiya and thinks Grex is the greatest thing since sliced bread. That’s how he felt about going from Iwata to Tamiya too. In the same two year period theres been a couple of Omnis and a T&C tossed in there too. Take that for what it’s worth.

The large cup and needle/nozzle are great for doing large aircraft. Switching back to the fine and you’re in business for smaller aircraft or small detailing.
Model Retailer just did a quick story on the Grex Combo
I have the Grex TS which is like the one in the above pictures, however, it is side feed and you can use it as a gravity feed or a siphon feed. I bought the .2 and .5 needle and tip combos the brush it self has the .3 tip/needle. It is a great performer.
It’s setup so you won’t get a blob/splatter of paint when you pull the trigger. Pulling on the trigger a little will give you air and pull more to get paint.
I got mine for $209.00 including shipping, not including the tips/needles from Chicago Airbrush.
