Or should I say, anybody else get suckered into it?
Actually it seems to be 80% of a good conversion, but the price is WAAAY over the top. I’ve seen more resin in garage sci fi kits for less money.
The part that strikes true dissappointment in my heart is the forward upper fuselage, where the sculptor apparently made up his own paneling detail, and omitted the real gun cover detail. I guess I’m going to have to try to scribe it (something I’m very bad at), or try to cut a hole to fit the gun panels from the Tamiya kit. No small fear comes from the cockpit area being the first place most people look on model planes.
And of course, neither the $354 conversion nor the $148 F-16 base kit come with any weapons. So after $500 I’ll still only have an unarmed strike fighter. I can take the AMRAAMs and sidewinders from the Tamiya f-16C kit, but then IT will be unarmed. Of course, Meteor makes resin AMRAAMs and sidewinders for $25 per pair (and I’m needing 2 pair of each, at least, for an air superiority load). But I don’t feel inclined to give them any more money at the moment, however.
