Hi, guys. I basically build armor and modern aircraft but just recently my wife requested me to build a ship (probably galleon type) for the dining area of the new house we are currently constructing. Now our local hobby shop does not really carry a lot of sails/masts - type of ships but I did find a 1/70 Trumpeteer “Mayflower” kit. It is not really the first ship that I will build having scratchbuilt a viking ship and a spanish galleon from wood some long years back but I don’t have much knowledge on the ship kits of these types.
Therefore, I would like to know your opinion about this kit. Any information about this kit will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
I’ve looked at the guts of the kit, MAn I will buy one when I have the spare change, it blows away the Old revell kit. It’s amazing what cheap labor can produce!
Thanks for the tip. In means that I may get this kit, too.
Cheap labor and new molds!
It’s on my want list too. I have their Arizona and it is so clean. Get it, you won’t be sorry. The Revell and Airfix kits are so worn out now you can’t hardly see the detail past all the flash.
I have started that kit . I have started sanding the the seams and flash off it. Its a real nice kit. Comparable to the Imai Mayflower but larger scale. The only thing that is alittle funky on the kit is the stern. The Mayflower and two Dolphin designs are pre painted. I removed the paint from mine with Ovenoff. They’re to over done.
Thanks for the extra tip, millard. Got to remember that when I do this kit. At least now I am more convinced that I will not be wasting hard earned bucks on this one.
Thanks for the help guys.
