I am planning on buying the Dragon 1/72 scale E-100. Has anyone built this kit? What was it like? Also, are there any kit reviews about it?
Thanks in advance![:)]

I am building it right now. I just finished priming it and will be painting it later this evening.
It took me about two days to finish building the kit. I didn’t have any fit problems and the detail
is very well done. I am going to paint it in the green/white octopus scheme seen on a late King
Tiger. The tracks are soft vinyl and are Tamiya quality. I’m hoping to get it finished for the Indy IPMS show next week.
Yep, I’ve got one. I’ve put the super structure together, but haven’t gone much farther. It’s a nice kit. Detail looks pretty good. There are eight little, bitty, itsy, tiny pieces that go on each side corner of the upper hull. I’ve maganed to loose two of them. They are sooooo small, that even if I happened across them, I’d think they were just some “trimmings”.
I haven’t decided if I’m going to try and scratch up something that looks close for the two I’ve lost (plus anymore that will undoubtabley be tweezerpulted in the future) or if I’m just going to shave off the locating marks and let it go.
(Did I mention they are small??)
Bill, I was so frustrated with those little pieces that I ended up shaving off the attachment points. I couldn’t get the four of them to evenly line up on either side. I tell myself, “it’s a late production E-100 and those parts were left off to speed up production.” [:D] Any idea how you are going to paint your E-100?
Right there with you, Erik. I think I will do exactly the same thing. I wonder what those little pieces were, anyway.
As to how I’m going to paint it…I’m sure I’ll paint it with my airbrush!! lol (Just not sure which one!!)
I’m not really sure what I’m going to do on it. Some grey scheme kind of strikes me, I was even thinking of a grey scheme with “random” or squarish black lines over it (idea being it was used in urban warfare and was camo’ed to blend in with buildings/rubble, but that’s probably stretching it!). I’ve even been trying to think of some medium greenish overall scheme. In otherwords, nope, I haven’t much of an idea, yet. How about you??
I probably will start painting it later this evening. I’m thinking of going with the octopus scheme seen on late King Tigers. I’m not sure how I will replicate the circles seen on the dunkelgelb paint but I think styrene rod dipped in paint should do just fine. I almost want to go russian with it just to be able to use the soviet stars on the decal sheet. I have also thought about ambush pattern or Afrika Korps…haha
looks like one for j-hulk, he made a review about this kit a little bit ago. Sounded like he really liked it.
Ooooo, good to see so much E-interest!
I bought this kit last month, but have yet to start on it (which is, essentially, the story of my life).
Bill, are you talking about the the little things on the corners of the sides of the turret? (You said “hull”). Those were the mounting points for a crane that was used to remove the extremely heavy side skirts. As long as the E had skirts, I’d imagine they’d have those things, too. Of course, it’s a “what if” build, so anything goes!!
What really impressed me about this kit was the road wheel moldings…like two pieces, but molded in one piece! Amazing!
Just in case ya’ll forgot about the “Urban Ambush” scheme on my old E-100, here are a few pix to help spur your imagination:
I’m looking forward to seeing what ya’ll will come up with! [:D]
Hey brian, did I ever tell you I usde a pic of your build on a praject for my GErman class?
You did? Cool! How’d it go over?
What was the project? “The Precise Type of Thinking that Cost Germany WWII,” or something similar? [;)]
Yep, I think we’re talking the same thing here. I see them on your “Urban Mauler”. They are the little half cylindrical jobbers on the four corners of the TURRET sides. I don’t know if I will just leave them off, or maybe try my hand at casting copies of the ones I’ve got left. THAT should prove interesting!!
It was just one pic out of about 20. It was for hobbies and activities you can do all year round. I used the first pic, found it at missing lynx. I think it added a very nice touch[;)]
