Anyone have any ideas for a colour scheme for a 1/48 Revell B25 that I am going to soon build??? I can finish olive drab as OOTB but I think it is too boring for such a beautiful plane. Any suggestions or pictures appreciated.

I’ve always been partial to the Desert Pink/Azure Blue scheme used by B-25’s in North Africa and the Mediterannean area.
what about a US Navy bird? the two tone blue and white scheme looks really cool.

Wich model is yout mitchell?
Even though I’m doing an OD version for my B-25 Mitchell in the Fall, I’m kinda tired of seeing all these OD bombers too.
My vote goes for “PoonTang” an Operation Torch Mitchell (USAAF Serial #42-32496). It was a B-25C-15 of the 488th Bomb Sqdn, 340th Bomb Group, at Sfax, Tunisia, April 1943. It had a disruptive pattern of olive drab over its original Desert Sand finish, Red cowl rings, and I believe it had the Sky Blue underside as well.
Other than that I think Keyworth’s suggestion is good too.
If I remember later in the week, I’ll post a couple images of “PoonTang” I have on my other computer.
Try this scheme, it’s the 48 A.M. kit

Sometime last year I built a couple of B-25’s. Both were Italeri 1/72nd kits, one OOB as a silver B-25, the other was based on the USN version. This one ended up as a Royal Air Force transport in silver/white with a blue cheat line & late war roundels. If you get a copy of the film 633 Squadron you’ll see what I based it on. Plus, there were at least two B-25’s used as transport for high ranking officers in this way.
Now that is a different scheme, far from OD, and would look good in 1/48th.

As promissed here are the pics for PoonTang. I’d be more than happy to help you out with the artwork for creating the decals. The white bombs and 8U on the tail will be a challenge without an Alps, but you can print those on white decal paper with the Operation Torch Insignia. Essentially you are printing the negative space with OD and Desert Sand colors respectively. I’ve done it before with Sea Blue. Might take a few prints to get the colors matched up to the paint.

Check out this scheme. Nothing fancy or bizarre. Just different.

Guys,
Thanks for the ideas…I really like Quagmyres camo pattern…looks different. I have a bit of time to decide before I do the painting so I may keep looking on the net.
Once again thanks.

I have to admit. Quagmyres’ is most definitely different.
Whatever you decide, keep us posted.

[:I] Aww shucks… just trying to help. Actually, I’m re-evaluating my decision to do the OD and Medium Grey “Emergency Strip” the more I look at “PoonTang”. I should probably refrain from saying that aloud. [;)]
Offer still stands on help with the artwork for the decals.
I think I have found the color scheme to use on my B25J. It appears to be the same scheme as Quagmyre suggested…but I have it as photos…see below. I think the scheme would look a lot better than the OD. Comments.
