Allright guys, anyone know of a snap-tite tank kit available? My 5 year old wants to build a tank so bad he can’t stand it and he’s allready a salty snap together builder with a VW Bug and a Hoer car under his belt. He just wants to be like dad now but I don’t think he is quite ready for the glue yet. I don’t think have seen any snap tanks but may have just overlooked one somewhere. If no snap ones are available how a kit that really don’t have alot of small parts and is pretty easy so I can make him happy. Thanks.
LQ, I know of no snapper tanks but if worse comes to worse, the old Tamiay Tiger II is about as simple a kit as there is… Or maybe a Panther A of the same vintage… Not many parts and most are fairly large…just my thought…

look 4 Armourfast kits…
they’re 1/72 scale, about 7 parts (upper & lower hull, 2 trax/roadwheel combo pieces, plus a couple of other pieces (mantlet, main gun barrel).
not snaptite, but almost. & they come 2 in the box 4 about $10.
they’ve got a Sherman. an M10 & a couple of others.
just get some non toxic testors glue (in the blue tube) & have fun !

I saw some Motor works 1/35 tanks in Wally world they may be snap or screw together and diecast for durability.

As much as my boys would love getting thier hands on a 1/16 Tiger my wife would kill me if I bought one just for me. Coarse i could tell her to think about all the quality time me and the boys could spend chasing the nieghborhood cats. Those armor fast kits sound interesting Frosty, are they redily available at most LHS or could htye order them? I don’t think I have ever seen them around here. Not that I normally look at the 1/72 to much. He might could handle a few parts in that scale.

I also don’t know about any snaptite kits of tanks, but I am also skewed towards the small scale. IN that respect, you can go to Squadron.com and order some simple kits from JB models. Very basic, and some of the real small pieces can be left off to go to your spares box. Your son won’t mind, he’ll be happy to have an AFV, just like Daddy!
Tamiya makes several remote controled snap tanks in 1/48 scale. I’ve got both the JGSDF Type 74 and W.German Jagdpanzer Kanone. Very simple kits that are superbly engineered to go together and have the added bonus of being able to go forward/back/right/left with a little wired remote. My 10 yr old daughter built the Type 74 but hasn’t gotten to the Kanone yet.
My 6 yr old son also built snap kits made by Conti. Real easy kits but no tanks, just some armed Land Rovers and Dakaar racing trucks.

Monogram made a few Snap-tite Armor kits. The scale was about 1/48 and they weren’t that bad considering the time period and they were snap.
But, I have not seen these things since the '70’s.
I think your best bet would be to find one of the Tamiya 1/48 scale tanks.
Walmart’s Motor Works are actually the 21st century toys 1/32 scale products that were previously sold at TRU. AAHHH! It hurts me to even say TRU! But anyway, any f them should make an excellent 1st Kit for a youngster. And they,re string enough to take the punishment of playtime for quite a while.

Cool thanks everyone, at least now I have a few things t try and find for him. He’s getting to where he really gets into building things now, we did a birdhouse last night that he said he wants to paint camo like a soldier house. I don’t think I have seen the motor works tanks at my local wally world but will ask about them.

I remember the old Monogram snap tite kits, but could not locate one for my 6 year old. They would be perfect. We did just get 2 of the Motorwork 1:32 scale from Wal Mart for about $15 each, a panther and a sherman. We have not built them, but we did open the box. They look like an easy build and have very good detail. Also good for teaching weathering techniques. Hope this helps.
