Any modern 1/35 Australian stuff out there? Figures, vehicles?

Hi guys… I am interested in getting my hands on any Australian stuff (modern era) in 1/35 scale… Is there anything around such as figures and vehicles… Not really looking for tanks, but 4x4’s and trucks… Any help and a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!..

Cheers

most of the australian defence force stock is either american hamy downs

but you could true and build the australian made bushmaster truck

Australia uses the Leopard 1 tank, rapiers, M198 artillery and other stuff.
For the army stuff go to:

And for the navy:

Didn’t Tamiya make an Aussie type of M113 apc with a gatling type of gun on the roof? I haven’t seen one in years though.

Don’t think Autralia uses the M163A1 Vulcan ADA system, that is what you are describing above.

Tamiya did make the Auastralian M113A1 FSV (Fire Support Vehicle) from Vietnam era, and AFV Club makes a Modern (upgraded) Aussie FSV.

Here is a site that concentrates on Australian and Israeli AFVs. Lost of links, info, and build/review articles on current and past Aussie armor, etc.

Lastly, Australia has apparently signed a contract for M1A1 Abrams tanks and are supposed to start fielding them in a year or so. That will be interresting and offer a new paint scheme besides sand and 3-color NATO for US M1s. It is being called the M1A1AS.

True Gino
Australia has just brought 59 M1A1’s at a low cost of $550 million. Also included in the deal is the M 978 HEMTT, the M1070 HET & the Hercules M88A2 support vehicle.
And i dare say the will all be painted in Auscam. I think a M1070 in Auscan would look rather nice.

Yup, all sorts of cool vehicles come along with th M1A1s. Great new paint schemes for all. Great for modelers too.

theres the UH-60 chopper too, and an ausie company dos the detail set to convert it too an ausie one
here some ausie armour photos http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/ref.htm

Any more detials on the Ausie UH-60 conversion? I have been looking at some photos of them lately and may just build one. I like the paint scheme.

i just found it on a austrailian site one day, im looking now but it was from a resin kit from Aus, maybe Petbat could help or someone on the helicopter forum

Thanks for the responce guys… I am not really looking for tanks… But 4x4’s and Trucks… Does Australia use Humvies, or Jeeps or something along those lines… Semi trailers, or smaller Isuzu trucks?.. What would they be taking to Iraq to protect the Japanese forces… What vehicles would they be using?.. This is what I have planned… I live in Japan, and like modelling Japanese stuff… I have already done a dio of the modern Japanese JGSDF Iraq Humanitarian assistance vehicle and figure sets… I have also included a Japanese Dirt Bike scout… Now that Australia has been given the role to protect the Japanese Troops. As an Australian myself, I would like to do a dio of both forces together!..

we dont use humvies, we got landrovers you could try and build and aussie aslav25
they are a sweet apc

Revell make/made the Mercedes Benz UNIMOG U1300L, the main workhorse of the Australian Army, in 1/35.

This place has a listing of some great Aussie models, including the Aussie Land Rover 1100.

Of course, you can always kitbash/scratchbuild a tray for a Flintstone Mack, or build a Mack S-Liner box-stock, then add a low-loader trailer, paint it khaki green and put some ‘ARMY’ decals on it.

John

I was gonn say the Mack aswell pretty, simple to build.
But here are some other kinds of vehicles that we use downunder

Hi to all

In response to the australian army soft skinned vehicles
The australians are using converted lavs .Sample vehicles trialed from the marines thank you . Esci kit needs a lot of converting to bring upto standard

There are also mack trucks used in field force units as recovery vehicles
I do not know if it has been released as kit form
Trucks which are still being used are mercedes unimogs
I believe there is a bit of converting to bring it to the australian style
The jeeps are landrover 110 series Acurate armour makes this model
Pretty well detailed.
The australians have done a lot of converting off the landrover series.
The landrover series started with the Austrian defence force back in the 60’s

There are few other vehicles other than what I have mentioned which are throught the defence force
Hope this helps

Cheers
Michael

Wow… Alot of info gentlemen, thanks!..

Next question I guess is… What kits are available for the Land Rover and the Mercedes trucks… And where am I able to order them from, and what prices are we looking at in 1/35th… What modern Aussie figures are available?.. Lastly… Does anyone know what vehicles they will be using in Iraq for the next deployment with the Japanese… Tanks included?..

I believe the ‘backyard resin’ company ‘Aussie Armour’ makes a set of 30 Auseyr’s, the main assault rifle of the Australian Army, then just put it on some modern troops. Or you could use putty, resin, scrap card or GW ‘green stuff’ to model some webbing in the infantry style.
Also try this link: http://www.mheaust.com.au/Aust/Austindex.htm
Scroll down to the ‘walkarounds’ section, it shows several vehicles of the Aussie Army, with a modeller’s view in mind.

John
