Any JASDF Blue Impulse experts in the house?...

Hey guys… I need to know a little information… I am currently doing a series of Blue Impulses… I have done the T-4 Trainer, and have just started the cockpit of the T-2… And am awaiting in the mail for my F-86 Sabre…

Now this is my big question… What are all of the planes that the JASDF has used for the Blue Impulse team… The reason I am confused is that I got the Hasegawa 50th Anniversary double kit set with two Fuji T-1B’s… Now this set has come with 3 color schemes… One in its original red and orange trainer scheme, One with the Mt Fuji 50th anniversary scheme, and also a Blue Impulse scheme, with the blue tail and blue stripe down the side similar to that of the F-86… Was the Fuji T-1B used in the Blue Impulse team at some stage, or did they just give it that scheme for the 50th anniversary?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!.. Also, what other planes have served in this team?

I suspect that T-1B was just done up for the JASDF 50th anniversary. It could also be a totally hypothetical decal option in the kit with no real basis in fact.

I did find the Blue Impulse homepage (with great difficulty) and in the history section, it goes from the F-86F straight to the T-2, then to the current T-4.

Hey thanks for that… Great info… Do you have a link to that site… As for the kit itself, it was one of the 50th Anniverasy kits released by Hasegawa that had 2 kits in the one box… It also has the original instructions, and the 50th anniversary decal instructions… I was trying to decide if I wanted to do it in the Blue Impulse colours, or the actual trainer colours… But I know the Blue Impulse colours were actually put on atleast one of the planes, as the picture on the box is a picture of that exact same plane… But after further inspection, they give you the instruction sheet for the trainer colored T-1… But the only decals they have, are for the two 50th Anniversary liveries… So now I am grumpy, because if they werent used in the Blue Impulse team, then I was going to it in the red and orange trainer scheme… So I guess I have alot of masking and painting ahead of me???.. Thanks for the reply! Appreciate it!

O.K. Here’s the link:

http://www.jda.go.jp/jasdf/blue/blue.htm

Its all in Japanese with no apparent English option and it takes a while to load. Once its fully loaded, scroll to the bottom of the page and you’ll see five lines of Japanese text, click the third one down from the top and that will give you the history page and access to some nice photo galleries of the team’s various aircraft.

Good luck on your project.
