Any interest in a "Panzer Aces" GB?

I think I’d like to keep this build focusing on just the Axis panzer aces, however we could also set up an Allied Tank Aces build to start up at or near the finish of the Panzer Aces or heck even have them run con-currently. We just need to be careful that we don’t overdo it as I know many of us are heavily committed to other GBs at the moment. I’ve got 3 different Dragon Shermans waiting in the wings (M4A1, M4A3, M4A3E8) as well as a lot of Germany Armor that I’ve been dying to get to.

My thinking is that it would be cool to really dive deep into this subject, regarding the history, the men, the machines, the battles and if we make it really broad we might not get the depth that I think some of us are hoping for with this project. Know what I mean? [:)]

I agree with what someone said earlier about Panzer Aces, the auther does include conversations between the men in the tanks and in the battles, which I’m sure for the most part is purely speculative, but it does add a nice touch of immediacy and excitement to the narrative. [8D]

Cool, we have enough, I’ll put together a thread in the GB forums sometime today. The dates, guidelines etc will be a work in progress over the next couple of weeks as we fine tune the scope. When I set it up I’ll put a link in here to the GB post. [:D]

That’s what is really going to make this a cool GB. Researching like this, is the best part of this GB.

This is an awesome sounding idea… even if I didn’t manage to build a kit for the GB, there’d be a ton of awesome information pooled here…

I would love to get into this and make it my first GB but i have 1 problem i would love to do a knipsel tank and i can never find anything about him like tank # and colors. If anyone has any info on his King tiger can you help me out and point me in the direction

Very little is known about Knispel, strange for his being the highest scoring ace of the war.

He fought in sPzAbt 503.

His Tiger number isn’t known, the only good picture shows three, turrets 513, 523, and 213. Due to the great amount of swapping mounts that went on between tank commanders, you’l pretty much just have to take your pick.

It appears his Tiger may have been monotone dark yellow, like Carius’ tank, but he commanded more than one tank. He also commanded a King Tiger for three weeks before he was killed.

Kurowski’s book Panzer Aces II has some info on him, alas not much in the way of pictures.
