…for the most part i’m hooked on WW II and the CBI theatre but, to alleviate the tedium of OD & grey, i’ve gotten interested in Airliners…some 1/144…some 1/200…they’re an easy build, clean and an attractive display…
i realize FSM is mostly military but, maybe there’s room for some people movers ?
I love airliners havent built 1 in awhile however. Im looking to build 1 for my father for xmas this year, Still havent found the right jet with right marking though.
I’m very open to building a 747. I’m waiting for Draw Decals to come out with the old orange scheme of South African Airways. The orange tail with the blue Flying Springbok. As soon as it’s released I’m putting my WWII planes on hold. My father was transfered to Jo’burg on an expatriate assignment by his company when I was 10. We lived there for four years during the mid-80s, so those Flying Springbok’s have some sentimental meaning for him. Beautiful country. And yes, all the European African (PC-term?) women look like Charlize Theron. [:p]
Here! Airbuses, Boeings, Fokkers, Lockheeds,… I’ve got them all! (well, just about!)
I’ve tried airliners from time to time with lttle to no success for some reason.
I really would like to see some mainstream manufacturer create a line of 1/72 turboprop and short haul jet liners. I think a line of 737s or 727s would sell like hotcakes in hobby shops if they were in 1/72.
I’ve been wanting a BAe 146 in 1/72 or 1/48 for a long time, I had Revell Germany’s 1/144 kit of it once, but screwed it up beyond repair.
If anyone reissued Esci’s old Fokker 27 or Hobbycraft Canada revamped and reissued their 1/72 DeHavilland Dash 8 I’d jump at both kits in a heartbeat.
Save 1/144 scale for 747s and A340s and the like. Do the smaller liners the justice of 1/72 at least and lavish the sort of detail on them that so many military subjects get in kit form.
