I don’t know if any one is interested, but I think I know a good material for antennas and wires. Besides modeling, another hobby of mine is fly tying (fishing). In fly fishing stores that sell fly tying supplies, they carry very, very small metal wires (they look like thread on a bobbin). It can be bent and shaped or just be straight. I havn’t had the chance to try it out yet, hopefully soon. Fly tying stores also hold regular thread that is really small. Maybe it will help, maybe it won’t.
I also tie flies. I know the material your refering to. It would make a great antenna wire. I found a material that makes good antennas. GoJo hand cleaner makes a small bottle of orange hand cleaner that comes with a scrub brush. The bristles on the brush is just right for a varity of different antennas. Check it out next time your at Walmart. [;)]
The Art of Improvising…good tips added to stretched sprue and wire fillaments.
Fabric stores also carry spools of different gauge copper wire. I think it is used for some type of embroidery. It is very rigid stuff and is great for adding wires to cockpits/wheelwells/acces panels. I got two spools for $0.99, each with like 100 ft of wire.
Guitar strings works good for this too. There are six different sizes to choice from also.
30 guage wire usually works, I got it from Wal-Mart(I was using it for my Bonsai, but now, they’ve all gotten to big to be affected by 30 guage! I have to get some thicker stuff, now).
